‘BLACK LIPSTICK’, the launching movie of Kyline Alcantara, is the second directorial job of Julius Ruslin Alfonso after his successful debut in the hit Metro Filmfest comedy, “Dedma Walking”. So how is it directing a much younger cast this time?

“First time ko to work with teeny boppers and after working with them, ang feeling ko, bagets na rin ako,” he laughs. “I didn’t have any problems with my very young cast kasi they’re all responsible and professional. I feel so blessed to be given a chance to work with them.”

How is Kyline Alcantara in the role of a girl suffering from the skin ailment called vitiligo that makes her everyone’s butt of jokes?

“I was really amazed by Kyline kasi first lead role niya ito and she proved to be an intuitive and intelligent actress. She actually plays two roles in the movie. As Ikay, she’s the ugly girl that mean girls bully then, with the help of the magical Black Lipstick, she is transformed to this beautiful young lady and a social media influencer named Jessie.

She’s very receptive and doesn’t hesitate to ask questions to enhance her performance. She deserves to be given this launching movie, which is not just your usual fantasy romance as it seriously shows the effects of social media on today's young people who are always hungry for validation.”

“Black Lipstick” is produced by Obra Cinema with Enrico Roque as executive producer and Dennis Evangelista as line producer. Kyline is supported by Snooky Serna who plays her mother. The movie is actually inspired by a hit flick Snooky made in the 80s, “Blusang Itim”.

The supporting cast includes Kate Valdez, Nicole Villanueva, Nella Dizon, Patricia Garcia, Angel Guardian and Cheska Salcedo as the mean girls who oppress Ikay, James Teng as the campus heartthrob who bullies Ikay, Angelie Sanoy and Phi Ramos as Ikay’s best friends. The movie opens in theatres on October 9.
