MAYMAY ENTRATA PLAYS OFW IN 'HELLO, LOVE, GOODBYE', TALKS ABOUT REAL SCORE BETWEEN HER AND EDWARD BARBER

MAYMAY ENTRATA has played lead roles before but she doesn’t mind playing a supporting part in “Hello, Love, Goodbye” as the friend of Kathryn Bernardo. “Gusto ko talaga kasing makatrabaho si Ate Kathryn at ang director naming si Direk Cathy Garcia Molina kaya very happy talaga ako when they informed me na kasama ako sa cast ng pelikula,” she says.

She plays the role of an OFW and she says she can relate to it because her mom is also an overseas worker in Japan. Her dad left them when she was a child and she grew up with her grandparents. “Lumaki po akong wala ang mother ko kasi nagtrabaho na siya abroad. 28 years na po siya roon at nagkaroon na ako ng half brother doon,” she adds. “Making this movie about OFW’s made me understood the plight of our kababayans na napipilitang iwan ang pamilya nila para magtrabaho sa ibang bansa. I’m really happy na ngayong nasa showbiz na ako, nakakatulong na rin ako sa aming pamilya.”

Shooting the movie for almost one month in Hongkong made her good friends with co-stars Kakai Bautista and Lovely Abella who also play OFW’s in Hongkong. “Ang babait nila at talagang naging very close kami sa isa’t isa. Pag walang shooting, magkakasama kami sa galaan.”

She had an unforgettable experience with them in a sauna. “Isinama nila akong mag-sauna bath doon at nagulat talaga ako, kasi pagpasok namin, yung ibang babaeng foreigners sa loob nung sauna, talagang hubad-hubad sila. Ako ang nahiya kasi naka-shorts at sando ako. Sina Ate Kakai and Lovely, nakabikini sila, pero ako, hindi ko kaya, lalo na ang maghubad sa harap ng ibang tao kaya basta shorts and sando ang isinuot ko.”

How does it feel making a movie without her usual ka-love team, Edward Barber? “Okay lang po. I think it’s healthy for us so, kahit love team kami, we can also grow on our own. Siya rin naman, gumawa ng movie na hindi ako kasama with Aga Muhlach and Bea Alonzo, and that’s good for both of us. Pero magkasama pa rin naman kami kasi we’re now doing ‘Hiwaga ng Kambal’ on TV together.”

Is it true they are now officially going steady? “Ha? SIno po may sabi? Hindi po! Alam ni Dodong (her pet name for Edward) kung ano ang mga priority ko ngayon sa buhay. I’m not ready for a serious commitment kasi priority ko pa rin ang responsibility ko sa work at family ko. Pareho naman kaming nakatutok lang ngayon sa careers namin kasi we’re still starting. Wala munang love life, friendship lang.”
