SUE RAMIREZ gets to play her most daring role to date in “Cuddle Weather”, written and directed by Rod Marmol of “Mata Tapang”. It is one of first three entries in the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino this September which was announced by FDCP chair Liza Dino some months ago. The other two are “The Panti Sisters” directed by Jun Lana starring Paolo Ballesteros, Martin del Rosario and Christian Bables as three gay brothers, and “LSS, Last Song Syndrome” directed by Jade Castro starring Khalil Ramos and Gabbi Garcia.

At the presscon then, Rod didn’t have any stars with him yet because he was still casting the movie. He said it’s difficult to cast the lead roles as he would need actors who should be totally committed to the project, which is very delicate as it is about two sex workers who will be required to do a lot of provocative scenes.

Eventually, the two sex workers, a man and a woman, will form a different kind of romantic setup as “cuddle partners”. Rod Marmol developed the project with award-winning filmmakers Dan Villegas and Antoinette Jadaone as his consultants.

“Both actors will be required not to just show some skin in many scenes but also to deliver strong language, lines that might be considered controversial as we will be using the Tagalog words for sex organs and the sex act itself,” Rod adds. “So they should have a liberal point of view and not afraid to talk about sex at all. If they have inhibitions, their portrayal of their roles will not be believable. We already auditioned a lot of actors but they backed out kasi nga, daring ang roles and may political angle din involved. Pareho namang game sina Sue and RK and if they have reservations sa set, pinag-uusapan namin and we discuss it until we find a middle ground.

"They’re both brave to accept their roles and they understand that I want to come out with something really different. Love story pa rin, but with a difference kasi it’s about the lives of male and female prostitutes. I’ve done research on them and their understanding of love can also be honest and raw, profound and beautiful. The movie aims to present sex as it really is, no frills. This is a sex film, but with lots of heart in it.”

Sue will play the lead role of Adela and her leading man is a Kapamilya actor like her, RK Bagatsing. They both have their respective soaps now. Sue is in the Gerald Anderson upcoming teleserye about soldiers while RK is in the morning soap “Nang Ngumiti ang Langit”. And Sue is also busy in two other movies, “Dead Kids”, produced by Globe Studios and directed by Mikhail Red and “Project Alpha One” opposite new actor Javi Benitez, directed by Richard Somes.
