3RD PISTA NG PELIKULANG PILIPINO ENTRY 'CUDDLE WEATHER' GIVES NEW MEANING TO LOVE & SEXUALITY/ FDCP CHAIR LIZA DINO ANNOUNCES THERE WILL BE AN AWARDS NIGHT THIS TIME

writer-director ROD MARMOL with producer SARAH PEREZ

The third entry in PPP is “Cuddle Weather” by Rod Marmol, a scriptwriter who did films like “Pinay Beauty” (an entry in the PPP last year) and “Bes & the Beshies”. He also wrote the books “Lahat Tayo May Period” and “Love Stories na Walang Love” based on his own personal stories and reflections. He then went into directing in the film about soldiers, “Mata Tapang”, an entry in the last CineFilipino Filmfest.

“Cuddle Weather”, his entry in this year’s PPP, is about two sex workers who get into an odd romantic arrangement as cuddle partners. The film aims to give new meaning to love and sexuality with the story of two people who make a living by rendering sex services. It has a very young producer, Sarah Perez, or Project 6 San Joaquin Projects.

They are now casting the film and Rod says he has talked to a lot of actors but wants to make sure that they will get the right ones who will commit themselves totally to their roles which will require a lot of daring scenes.

FDCP CHAIR & CEO LIZA DINO=SEGUERRA also announces that after these three finalists chosen based on their scripts, the next five finalists for the PPP’s 8 official entries will come from finished films or in post production. The deadline is on May 31, 2019.

The festival will run from September 13 to 19, with special prices for students. P180 for Metro-Manila students and P130 for students in the provinces.

There will also be an awards night this time, where they will choose best picture, best directors, best actor and actress, best supporting actor and actress, plus the usual technical awards.

The members of the screening and selection committee include Liza herself, plus Directors Jose Javier Reyes and Carlito Siguion Reyna, cinematographer Lee Meily and film editor Manet Dayrit.

During its run, the PPP will also show restored classics of National Artists for film like Gerry de Leon, Lino Brocka and Ishmael Bernal.
