Jak Roberto Happy To Be Paired With Barbie Forteza In 'Kara Mia', Wants To Try Doing More Mature Roles In Films

JAK ROBERTO gained fame as the Pambansang Abs for always being shirtless in his TV appearances, especially in “Dear Uge”, to show off his six-pack abs. But for his new show, “Kara Mia”, with real life girlfriend, Barbie Forteza, he says they agreed he won’t be taking off his shirt this time.

“Ginawa ko na yung lagi akong walang shirt sa last show ko, ‘Contessa’, so for a change, gusto ko naman talent ko sa pag-arte and mapansin sa akin at hindi ang paghuhubad ko,” he explains. “Maski sa ‘Dear Uge’ at sa ‘Bubble Gang’, hindi na rin ako gaanong nagta-topless. Pahinga muna sa ganyan para hindi magsawa ang viewers.”

How is it finally being paired with Barbie in their own show? “Siempre, it’s a nice feeling dahil lagi kaming nagkikita. We help each other sa script reading at mas nakaka-inspire magtrabaho.”

They’ll be officially going steady for two years this coming May. For Valentine’s Day, they had a romantic dinner that he himself prepared after Barbie did a guesting in Chika Minute of “24 Oras”. What does he find endearing in Barbie?

“She’s really a simple girl at heart,” he replies. “Hindi siya maluho at hindi high maintenance na mahilig sa mga mamahaling bagay like expensive jewelry and branded bags and clothes. She knows how to invest and spend her earnings wisely. Napakadali ring pakisamahan. Madaling makasundo. HIndi nga kami nag-aaway o nagkakaroon ng samaan ng loob.”

In “Kara Mia”, he plays Boni, a guy who grew up with his grandma and falls in love with Barbie as Kara. The problem is that Mika de la Cruz as Mia also falls in love with him and it becomes a weird and different kind of love triangle since two sisters in one body both fall for him. “Kara Mia” starts airing this Monday replacing “Cain at Abel” after “24 Oras”, directed by Dominic Zapata.

Jak says he wants to branch out to doing movies these days. Would he be ready to do daring, mature roles? “Why not? I’m already 25 years old. Hindi na naman ako minor, so I think I can do challenging roles.”

What if he’d require to do some nude scenes? “Okay rin, but it will depend on the material, if it’s really worth it, and kung magaling ang director. Ayoko naman gumawa ng basta kalaswaan lang. I want it to be a quality movie that will be worth my while and also the viewers.”
