Khalil Ramos Happy To Be Part Of 'Dead Kids', Opens Up About Real Score Between Him & Gabbi Garcia

KHALIL RAMOS turned 23 years old on January 22 and he went up a mountain in Tanay with his special someone, Gabbi Garcia, who he calls his favorite person. Khalil is from ABS-CBN while Gabbi is with GMA-7, but the fact that they come from rival networks is not an obstacle in their cultivating a romantic relationship.

Gabbi herself posted their photos together while trekking on the mountain in her social media account and they look so genuinely happy together. The day before his birthday, Khalil attended the presscon of his new movie, Globe Studios’ first solo venture into film production, “Dead Kids”, directed by Mikhail Red. In the movie, Khalil is paired with another actress also named Gabby, Gabby Padilla. Looks like he’s really fond of that name, no matter what the spelling may be.

For the first time, Khalil admitted that he and Gabbi have been playing beautiful music for two years now, after the usual press releases that “we are just good friends”. Gabbi is 20 years old and Khalil says they never really considered the fact that she’s Kapuso and he’s Kapamilya.

“It has never been a problem for us that we come from different networks,” he adds. “Usually, yun ang first question sa amin. How’s is that, you’re from ABS and she’s from GMA. But for us, we consider it an advantage that we don’t work together kasi mas nasasabik kami sa isa’t isa since we don’t get to see each other everyday. We don’t have the same handlers or road managers. We’re from the same industry in showbiz, but totally separate kami talaga when it comes to our careers.”

How did they get to know each other? “Our relationship happened out of the limelight kasi we never got the chance to work with each other. We were introduced by a common friend. Naging friends muna kami and we’re thankful for that kasi hindi kami love team lang or anything. Then we went out together and the friendship blossomed. We clicked kasi more or less, we have the same personality. We’re both independent and we both have the same leadership qualities.

"Gabby is a strong woman with a mind of her own, so hindi siya clingy. Last holiday season nga, magkahiwalay kami. She’s with her family and I was with my family sa U.S., but okay lang. We treat each other as equals, no one is superior to anyone. Pantay lang kami. We want to help each other grow and we don’t want to be a hindrance in the growth of one another as a person. For example, I’m thinking of going abroad to study and she completely supports that. At this point, we can do what we want with each other’s life as long as it is clear that we belong to the same team.”

Khalil is very serious with his profession as an actor and he’s happy to be part of a movie like “Dead Kids”. “Mikhail Red is one of our best younger directors today and this project of his is very relevant today to what’s happening with our young people who are reared in social media. When I read the script, I liked it so much that I felt the need to be part of the project as it’s saying something very important and is not just your usual youth or barkada movie. I’m so glad they chose me to be part of the cast after I auditioned with Direk Mik.”

Khalil is also happy with his role in the movie as Paulo. “I’m the most maloko in our group, and also the most horny,” he laughs. “I serve as a comic relief in the story and it’s very challenging for me kasi mas sanay ako sa drama in both movies and teleseryes. Malaking hamon ito sa akin kasi kapag hindi natawa ang audience sa movie, it’s going to be my fault.”

Aside from this, we know Khalil is also doing another youth or barkada movie with Director Dondon Santos. It’s working title is “Project G” and produced by Cineko Productions. Khalil is co-starring with a bunch of newcomers. We’re now wondering whatever happened to that one.
