Enchong Dee's Dilemma In Kissing Janine Gutierrez In Regal's RomCom, 'Elise'

ENCHONG DEE is a Star Magic talent but he’s busier with Regal Entertainment than with Star Cinema. He did the comedy “I Love You to Death” and the family drama, “Mano Po 7” where he got very good reviews. And now, he is paired with Kapuso actress Janine Gutierrez in the romantic-comedy, “Elise”, a pre-Valentine presentation offering on February 6.

“This is not the first time we get to work together ni Janine,” he says. “Kasi two years ago, we did the horror movie, ‘Lila’, for Direk Gino Santos, which was an entry in the SinagMaynila Filmfest. After that, we became friends who keep in touch every now and then. Also, Rayver (Cruz) is a best friend of mine and even before he moved to GMA, we talked about Janine’s sexy pictorials for some magazines, like Preview. We said Janine is hottest female actress we have today. And now, I’m glad to be given the chance to work with her again.”



So how is it working Janine? “Napakagaan niyang katrabaho at never kaming nailang sa isa’t isa. She’s a natural actress, very relaxed ang style niya. The role she plays, Elise, is a free-spirited, independent-minded young woman and she was able to capture the essence of her character totally.”

Janine as Elise is the object of desire for Enchong as Bert. “Magkababata kami but we lost touched as we were growing up,” he says. “Then we meet again and I can feel na sobrang love ko pa rin siya but I don’t have the courage to express my feelings for her. Eventually, naging kami and we have a kissing scene and I felt awkward. I told her about it kasi I feel like I’m kissing the special person of my best friend. But I know naman si Rayver is very supportive, but after the scene, I told Janine jokingly that I think I lost a friend and we laughed.”

Enchong is one actor who’s very vocal in expressing his political views on social media, prompting some folks to call him “sawsawero” and “KSP (kulang sa pansin).” “I’m not affected by such comments,” he says. “We live in a democracy and this is a free country, so all of us have the right to say what we want to say about what’s happening around us. I’m a Filipino and not just because artista ako, wala na akong karapatang magpahayag ng damdamin ko.”

How about the bashers who say Janine should have gotten another leading man for “Elise” since she has no chemistry with Enchong? “Like I said, we’re all entitled to our opinion and I respect that. But I will respect them more if they’d make such comments after watching ‘Elise’. Sana, panoorin muna nila, bago sila mag-comment ng ganyan.”
