Cherie Gil Wants To Work With Mom Rosemarie Gil & Daughter Bianca Rogoff, Reveals What Her Most Favorite Film Roles Are

CHERIE GIL’s daughter with musician Roni Rogoff, Bianca, 23 years old, is now also into acting. Cherie’s dream is for her, Bianca, and her mom Rosemarie Gil to all appear together in a movie or a stage play. She thinks a good vehicle for them is Edward Albee’s pultizer prize winning drama, “Three Tall Women”, about three women named A, B & C, who are actually representations of the same woman at various stages of her life at age 90, 50 and 20. “I think it will be perfect for us as we all come from different generations,” Cherie adds. “It has always been our dream to get to work together. I saw the play in New York and loved it. I hope we could do it here even if getting the rights would be quite difficult.”

She’s now considered as one of our most competent actresses in local showbiz. How does she handle it when you have scenes with new and incompetent actors? “I make them feel that I’m annoyed. I’m sorry I don’t have the patience to bear with them. Pag pinasok mo ang trabahong ito, you should always prepare well.”
Her show on GMA-7, “Onanay”, is up against her mom’s own show on ABS-CBN, “Ngayon at Kailanman”. How does she feel about this? “I don’t feel anything about it. I’m happy my mom’s back to work, continuing with what she knows best and also enjoying it. When she offered to do the movie, ‘Delia & Sammy’, she was nervous about it but ayun, nanalo pa siyang best actress sa CineFilipino Filmfest so she got encouraged to go on.”

She has done so many movies and played so many characters. Which ones are the most memorable for her? “Of course, unang-una si Lavinia Arguelles in ‘Bituing Walang Ningning’ and her iconic line. I also like my role as Kano in “City After Dark”, directed by Ishmael Bernal where I a lesbian drug pusher. Trining of “Oro Plata Mata”, a role written for me by Peque Gallaga. And there’s Regina, the retired opera diva looking for redemption in ‘Sonata’ which won me an international acting award in Madrid. I really love those roles.”
