Kristoffer Martin Plays Villain To Good Friend Alden Richard In 'Victor Magtanggol'. He Says: 'I Want To Experiment'

KRISTOFFER MARTIN was bashed in social media for allegedly making “sawsaw” when he defended actor Paul Salas who was accused of battering his girlfriend Barbie Imperial. He eventually deleted his statement in defense of Paul. When asked about this at the presscon of “Victor Magtanggol”, he said he decided to delete it because “I realized I only know one side of the story. So ayokong maging one-sided. As of now, ayoko na lang magbigay ng kahit anong comment kasi hindi ko pa naririnig ang side noong kabila.”

In “Victor Magtanggol”, which now airs weeknights after “24 Oras”, he plays Lance, the son of Maritoni Fernandez who’s the second wife of Eric Quizon. Janine Gutierrez is the daughter of Eric from his first marriage and, although she’s his stepsister, Kris will secretly fall in love with Janine. Of course, he’d object vehemently when Janine becomes close to Alden Richards who plays the title role.

“Alden and I are good friends in real life,” he says. “We go out together and we even go mountain climbing. So enjoy ako sa scenes namin na nagkokontrabida ako sa kanya and I’m being very mean to him. Gusto ko siyang pinapahiya, without me knowing na siya pala si Hammer Man, na may special powers with the mjolnir na galing kay Thor at sa kanya pinagkatiwala.”

He’s so happy and proud with the success of Alden. “Halos magkasabay kami, e. And now ang layo na ng narating niya. Pati sa endorsements, in demand siya.”

Doesn’t he somehow feel envious? “No. Wala akong kainggit-inggit sa katawan and I can feel he truly deserves the success he’s getting now. Now, I really feel so proud and excited na nakasama ako sa show niyang ito na talagang big project for GMA Network.”

So he doesn’t mind doing a villain role for Alden? “Not at all. Choice ko nga yan, for a change. Ilang beses na rin namang akong naging leading man. Parang experimental ito for me and I hope it works for me to see kung anong career path ang bagay sa akin.”
