Yasmien Kurdi Feels So Lucky And Blessed In Having A Good Husband Who's An Airline Pilot, Rey Soldevilla

YASMIEN KURDI’s airline pilot husband, Rey Soldevilla (who she married in simple wedding rites six years ago), celebrated his birthday recently and Yasmien surprised him with her special gift waiting for him in their garage: a brand new Honda car worth about P1.5 million. A few weeks ago, she also bought a new house for her family in Muntinlupa, much to the delight of their daughter Ayesha who’s long been dreaming of living in a real house and not in a condominium building.

This prompts some of Yasmien’s fans to proclaim that her husband is really so fortunate to have her as his wife. For his birthday, she posted a video showing her even holding a birthday cake while singing the birthday song with Ayesha when Rey appeared in their garage to see the new car. Really, such a thoughtful and caring wife, isn’t she?

“Suwerte rin naman ako sa husband ko,” says Yasmien when we visited her on the taping of her hit afternoon show, “Hindi ko kayang Iwan Ka”.

She herself wrote for her husband in her social media account: “I am so grateful I married a man as wonderful as you. Ang swerte ko kasi ang pogi mo, mabait, generous at super humble na tao. I hope you never change in life, because you are absolutely perfect the way you are. I Love You so much! Happy Birthday, Pangga.”

They met in 2006 when she was turning 17. “Flight attendant siya sa PAL. 7 years older siya sa’kin. He’s 36 now and 29 ako. Bumalik siya sa pag-aaral at para maging pilot. First officer siya ngayon to the captain in international flights sa Cebu Pacific.”

Their marriage is pretty stable. “We support each other. We always communicate. Wala kaming inggitan. We always think we’re allies bilang mag-asawa at hindi kami nagko-contest. I handle our finances and budgeting but in making decisions, he’s the leader of our house. We bought our new house with our common funds, but for the car, I used my own money. Alangan namang magregalo ako tapos sa kanya rin pala galing ang pera. We still haven’t moved to our new house. Bago lahat ng gamit, e. Hindi pa tapos. Even the furniture, pasadya. Pero hindi pa rin namin iiwan ang condo namin kasi suwerte yun sa amin, e.”

Yasmien is happy that her show, “Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka”, has just been extended. “Yes, kaya we’re thanking laht ng viewers na nanonood sa amin. Lahat ng paghihirap namin sa show paid off. Sa pambubugbog sa’kin dito ni Tita Gina Alajar as my mother in law and Jackie Rice as Ava, one time, nagputok ang labi ko. Nagdugo. Pero okay lang, hindi maiiwasan ang magkasakitan sa ganyang scenes, e. Yun namang eksenang lumaban ako kay Tita Gina at sinaksakan ko ng cheke ang bibig niya, ang taas ng ratings noon. Sadista rin ang viewers, gusto nang nagsasakitan ang mga pinapanood nila.”
