Edgar Allan Guzman Joins The Cast Of GMA's 'The Stepdaughters', Plays A One-Eyed Soldier In 'Mata Tapang'

EDGAR ALLAN GUZMAN feels happy to play the role of a soldier for the first time in “Mata Tapang”. “Enjoy ako, pati sa action scenes, kaya lang mahirap yung role ko kasi nabulag ako and they have to put prosthetic make up on me. Talagang tinatakpan yung buong left eye ko kaya wala akong makita. Mahirap pala. I have to adjust. Nahihilo ako, e. It’s no joke. Mahirap umakting na iisa lang ang mata mo. It’s physically demanding but it’s worth it and I’m really proud of our movie.”

Is he aware that his role is based on the real life soldier dad of his director, Rod Marmol? “Yes, siya ang inspiration ng movie. Ibang-iba nga sa malanding gay role ko in ‘Dedma Walking’ which has given me several awards. At least now, makikita nilang lalaki naman ako. Misis ko sa ‘Mata Tapang’ si Ritz Azul.”

After doing “My Korean Jagiya”, GMA-7 got him again to join the cast of their hit afternoon soap, “The Stepdaughters”. “Naka-two weeks taping na ako para sa show. I play the long lost brother of Mikael Daez. Pero sa halip na kumampi ako sa kanila ni Megan Young, doon ako sa kalaban nila kumampi, kay Katrina Halili, at magiging kasabwat niya ako sa pang-aapi kina Megan and Glydel Mercado. First time ko to work with all of them and I want to thank them for welcoming me warmly on the set. Si Katrina ang madalas kong kaeksena. Sobrang bait niya. She even baked cookies for all of us.”

He’s also doing a new movie about the love of Pinoys for beauty pageants for Quantum Films. “Pinay Beauty”, written by Rod Marmol and Allan Habon, directed by Jay Abello. “Kasama ko diyan sina Maxine Medina and Jay Fonacier. Abangan nyo kasi maganda talaga siya.”
