Heart Evangelista In Full Bloom As A Visual Artist With New Art Exhibit At Artistspace, Ayala Museum From March 27 To April 12

HEART EVANGELISTA had her first art exhibition as painter Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero four years ago. Since then, art critics have noticed a subtle change in her artistry as a visual artist. Her signature knack for texture has remained, but she now employs more symbolism in her artworks, evident in her bolder brushstrokes that demonstrate that she’s now more sure of herself. Her inner energy is much more aggressive, more daring and it’s apparent she has come into her own as an artist.
“I think it’s because I’ve found myself and I’m now more sure of the paths I want to take,” says Love aka Heart. “I have also become more comfortable in baring more of myself and in every decision that I now make, I can go all out and give it all my heart and soul towards full self-actualization.”

That’s why her latest art exhibit is aptly titled “In Full Bloom” and it will start on March 27 at ArtistSpace, Ayala Museum Annex on Makati Ave. corner dela Rosa St., Makati. It will go on until April 12, except during Maundy Thursda, Good Friday and Black Saturday, which is from March 29 to 31.

As a contemporary artist, Heart’s medium is oil and acrylic. She is well known as an actress and model whose face adorns billboards and ads. She actually started painting as a child but showbiz overpowered her more immediate endeavors until she met a new inspiration in her life, her husband Sen. Chiz Escudero, who encouraged her to pursue her talents as a painter and not just let it go to waste.

Mentored by Ivan Roxas, she started having one-man art exhibits in 2014 with “I Am Love Marie” and her paintings were all sold out even before the official opening. In later shows, all her works were quickly bought right during the first hour of her exhibit’s openings.

She also became noted for her hand-painted masterpieces on handbags, leather, couture, houseware and furniture. She even collaborated with designer Mark Bumgarner for paintings on gowns. She has also had successful art exhibits abroad, notably in Singapore and in Honolulu, Hawaii. No wonder then that Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero aka Heart Evangelista is now a name to reckon with not only in local showbiz but also in the Philippine art scene.
