Camille Prats's New Romcom, 'Ang Forever Ko'y Ikaw', Is Up Against Friend Jodi Santamaria's Show But She Thinks They'll Put Up A Good Fight

CAMILLE PRATS gets to play the lead role again in a soap in the new morning romantic-comedy of GMA-7 that will be a pre-program to “Eat Bulaga” starting March 12. This is “Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw” where she’s paired with Neil Ryan Sese. They’re both single parents in the story. Camille as Ginny is a young widow whose husband, Arthur Solinap, has passed. Neil as Lance is abandoned by his wife, Aubrey Miles.

Camille has two kids, teen star Ayra Mariano and child actor Jude Diangson. Neil has a son, Bruno Gabriel. As a romance, the story revolves on the idea of serendipity, incidents where the universe conspires so that events happen in your life in a beneficial way without your really planning or asking for it.

“I was really surprised when I got this offer to do ‘Ang Forever Ko’y Ikaw’ kasi it’s a light romcom,” she says. “E, nasanay ako sa heavy dramang iyakan. Ang kapareha ko pa rito, si Neil Ryan Sese, nakasama ko last sa ‘Munting Heredera’ na binubugbog ako, nire-rape, pinahihirapan, tapos ngayon, magpapakilig daw kami. Sabi ko, parang lumipas na kami sa ganyang mga pakilig, pambagets na lang yan, but as we’re doing it, masaya siyang gawin compared so drama. Also, nakaka-relate ako sa role ko kasi Ginny lost her husband and was given a second chance, which really happened to me in real life. Kaya feel na feel ko ang character ko as a young widow at pati ang mga lines ko sa show kasi it really happened to me.”

So she has moved on from her past? “Yes, but hindi naman yun mawawala sa buhay ko. Permanent part na yun ng life ko, lalo na nandiyan ang son kong si Nathan, so his dad will always be remembered. But with my new family now, I’m given a new chapter in life which I didn’t see coming at all, but for which I will always be thankful kay Lord na may iba pa palang plano para sa akin.”

How does it feel that they’re up against the show of Jodi Santamaria? “Siempre, may kaba, and I’ll confess fan ako ni Jodi and I watch her show. I like her not only as an actress but as a person. Walang problemang pagtapatin kami as long as it’s friendly competition. Pero malaki naman ang market audience sa umaga and the advantage of our show is simple lang siya, relatable ang situations and character kaya, sa tingin ko, may laban naman kami kasi mas madali kaming mahalin since gusto lang naming maaliw at mapasaya ang morning viewers.”
