Martin Nievera Says His Relationship With Ex-Wife Pops Fernandez Is Now As Cordial As Ogie Alcasid's With Michelle Van Eimeren

MARTIN NIEVERA is a regular performer in Las Vegas so we asked him how he felt after the tragic shooting incident on the strip last October where 59 people were killed by a crazed gunman. “It’s really shocking,” he says. “I was able to visit one shooting victim who survived and he recounted the horrible experience. Because of that, all the performers, entertainers in Las Vegas bonded together. Kasi before, siempre, may kanya-kanya silang turf diyan, but because of what happened, they became united.”

We got to talk to Martin at the presscon of his Valentine concert, “#PaMORE” at Seda Hotel. MORE stands for Martin, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez and Erik Santos. They’ve worked before with some of each other in other shows, but this is the first time that they’re all performing together on one stage.

Towards the end of the presscon, his youngest son, Santino, came to the ballroom where the presscon
is being held. He’s very friendly and said hello to everyone. Martin said the boy is very close to his ex-wife, Pops Fernandez.

“When he sees Pops, yayakap agad at ayaw nang humiwalay. We all met the New Year at Solaire Hotel and I’m so glad kasi Santino was with me, along with Pops and our two sons. We all celebrated the New Year together. Our relationship now is like Ogie with Regine and Michelle. We’ve forgotten what happened in the past and things worked out perfectly. Pops told me she remembers our past days together, but she remembers only the good days we had. It’s one of the most magical New Year celebrations I’ve ever had.”

“#PaMORE” will be staged at the MOA Arena on February 9, produced by Star Media of Anna Puno and I Music of Cacai Mitra who are so happy because it’s almost sold out. Right after the concert was announced in late November, people started ordering tickets and gave them as Christmas gifts to their loved ones. You can get yours tickets at SM Tickets at 470-2222.
