Julian Trono Says He And Ella Cruz Won't Pretend That They Are On Just To Help Promote Their Launching Film, 'Fangirl/ Fanboy'

JULIAN TRONO’s fervent wish is for people to stop comparing her love team with Ella Cruz to that of JaDine. “We don’t aim to compete with them or duplicate what they’ve accomplished,” he says.

“Sobrang magkaiba kami kasi they’re very unique. Iba yung sound nila, how they speak, how they perform, kakaiba rin ang hitsura at chemistry nila. But Ella and I use the comparison to pressure ourselves para mas mapaganda ang trabaho namin at magustuhan kami ng mga tao, lalo na sa launching film naming ‘Fangirl/Fanboy’ that opens in theatres on September 6. They’re a source of inspiration for us at hindi man kami umabot sa level nila, at least nandun yung path, yung effort, yung desire naming makapagpasaya ng mga tao.”

He says what’s different about him and Ella is that they’ve been friends for a long time. “Child stars pa lang kami, magkakilala na kami sa GMA-7 in ‘Tropang Potchi’, a kiddie show, so malalim na ang pinagsamahan namin bilang magkaibigan. Who would have thought na later, kami pala ang magiging magka-love team?”

So are they really on by now? “Kung sasabihin naming kami na nga, makakatulong daw yun to promote our movie but pareho kami, ayaw namin pareho ng relasyong pam-promo lang. Ayaw naming lokohin ang mga tao. Sa ngayon, talagang good friends lang kami and we’re enjoying that.

We’re not even exclusively dating or anything. We just want to keep our friendship muna. But later on, kung doon man kami mapunta, I guess mahirap namang pigilan ang feelings namin. We’re not closing our doors, but as of now, mas focused kami sa work namin.”

When he was doing the soap “Buena Familia” on GMA-7, he was linked to his co-star, Kylie Padilla. It was rumored later that they had a bad breakup. Is this true? “No, up to now, good friends pa rin kami. I’m really happy for her and her baby. Kitang-kita namang masaya siya ngayon. Wala kaming anumang problema at all.”
