Barbie Forteza On The Real Score Between Her And Jak Roberto, Also Reveals Her Plans For Her Coming Birthday

BARBIE FORTEZA admits she’s getting closer than ever to Jak Roberto. “Kasi kahit wala nang ‘Meant to Be’, nakikipagkita siya sa akin, we go watch movies,” she says.

What’s the last movie they saw? “‘Spiderman Homecoming’. Pero after that, nanood kami noong PETA Musical, ‘Caregivers’. Hindi naman kaming dalawa lang. Kasama ang parents ko at kung minsan, yung co-stars namin sa ‘Sunday Pinasaya’.”

What else does she like about Jak? “Mabait siya talaga. He really made an effort na maging kaibigan ang parents ko. At ang maganda sa kanya, hindi siya nagmamadali. He’s willing to wait. Kasi ako, mas gusto ko rin yung old traditional style ng panliligaw. Hindi gaya ngayon na text-text lang, tapos kayo na, at ikaw pa ang makikiramdam kung kayo na ba talaga.”

We talked to Barbie at the second anniversary presentation of “Sunday PinaSaya”. “Actually, itong buong month ng July, anniversary presentation namin ito,” she adds. “Pero yung show namin sa August 6, yung ang magiging pinakabongga at pasabog sa lahat.”

So what did she gain from being part of the show? “Naku, malaki utang na loob ko rito dahil dito ko nalamang puede pala akong maging comedian. Kasi sa TV, lagi akong nagpapaiyak, api-apihan, pero dito I enjoyed working all the other comedians in the show at sobrang dami ang natutuhan ko sa kanila, lalo na when it comes to having the right comic timing. Before this, ni hindi ko alam na puede akong mang-spoof ng ibang tao, si Kris Aquino nga.”

Someone tells her that it’s because of her that Kris Aquino lost her showbiz career and is now no longer doing anything. “Hoy, hindi naman,”she laughs. “But lahat ng natutuhan kong pagko-comedy sa ‘Sunday Pinasaya’, nagamit ko lahat when I was given a comedy show on primetime, ‘Meant to Be’. Dito ko rin nalamang singer pala ko kasi kasama kong kumanta ng theme song.”

Barbie’s movie with Ken Chan for Regal, “This Time Will Be Sweeter”, had its story con last Monday and will start shooting this month, directed by Joel Lamangan. Mother Lily Monteverde and daughter Roselle warmly welcomed Barbie and Ken at the Regal office. The shooting will stop in August because this is considered as a bad month for business among the Chinese since it’s the so called “ghost month”. Luckily, Barbie is leaving for the U.S. to visit her married sister who is based in Chicago in the second week of August. “Halos two weeks ako roon, we’ll go to New York and Indiana, then I go back to Manila on August 24.”

She’s turning 20 on July 31 and as a pampabuenas gesture, she visited the grade school in Binan, Laguna, Pagkakaisa Elementary School, where she studied until grade 4. She donated 26 stand fans and served snacks to all the students. “Ang saya-saya kasi ng lahat ng former teachers ko, nandun pa.”
