Arci Munoz Praying That Her Second Movie With Gerald Anderson, 'Can We Still Be Friends', Be As Big A Hit At The Box Office As Their First One

ARCI MUNOZ was still busy with the “buwis buhay” reality game show, “I Can Do That”, when she had to find time to shoot all her remaining scenes in the new movie “Can We Still Be Friends?” since it already has a playdate on June 14. “Talagang sobrang pagod ko nun as I was making lagari sa TV show and new movie ko,” she says. “Medyo lumuwag ang schedule ko when I was eliminated on week 10 and I didn’t make it to the finals. Congrats pala kay Wacky Kiray for being the grand winners dahil sa kanyang wire balancing act.”

“Can We Still Be Friends?” is her second movie with Gerald Anderson after they did the hit romcom “Always Be My Maybe” last year. She has said then that she really had a crush on Gerald, even before she moved to ABS-CBN, but it so happened that she had a boyfriend that time they were shooting their first movie, rocker Badi del Rosario. They have since broken up, but the irony of it is now that she’s free, it’s Gerald who is unavailable as he is said to be in a relationship with Bea Alonzo.

“Wala, e, mali talaga ang timing namin,” she says. “But it’s always nice to work with him kasi he’s a real gentleman, on and off camera. As your leading man, you can expect na lagi ka niyang aalagaan. The first time we were paired, I felt so intimidated kasi first time kong mabigyan ng ganung break sa movie, but he made me feel comfortable right away, so maganda ang naging working relationship namin at, hanggang ngayon, ganun pa rin. Siya yung tipong he’ll open doors for you, get a chair for you, take good care of you. Happy kami sa set.”

They had a love scene before. How about in “Can We Still Be Friends?” “Meron din, at mas na-conscious ako rito kasi shirtless siya at mas maganda ang katawan niya ngayon. Nadi-distract ako sa abs niya kaya kinailangan kong uminom ng vodka kasi very challenging sa’kin yung eksena. Nakaka-tense at baka ako ang mag-take advantage sa kanya. Ha ha ha! Madaling araw na when we shot it at nagising lahat ng tao sa set. It’s wilder than the first movie we did. Para ngang ayoko nang matapos. Pero sobrang ganda lumabas ng love scene na yun kaya abangan nyo. We're really hoping our second teamup will be as successful as the first one.”

In “Can We Still Be Friends?”, Gerald is Digs and Arci is Sam. They’ve been on for 8 years but Arci got bored with their relationship because she is an achiever and a go-getter who wants to go out and enjoy while Gerald has a laid back personality and just wants to stay home. “Yayain ko siyang lumabas,” says Arci, “and he’ll say chill na lang tayo sa bahay. Masisiraan kami ng kotse, ako pagtutulakin niya nito. So ayun, nakipag-break ako. Makaka-relate dito ang millennial viewers kasi we tackle modern technology, social media and dating apps like Tinder where you can search for a date online.”

Supporting them in the movie are Bryan Santos, Ria Atayde, Brian Sy, Gege Severo, Erika Padilla, Markki Stroem and Emmanuelle Vera, directed by Prime Cruz.
