YEN SANTOS considers the movie she just did with Piolo Pascual, “Northern Lights: A Journey to Love”, as her biggest break since she started her showbiz career in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash 2010. “I’m really thankful to him and Direk Dondon Santos for making me a part of this movie,” she says. “Lahat naman ng baguhang aktres, dream na makatrabaho si Papa P. Napakasuwerte kasi very first movie ko ito, tapos siya agad ang kapareha ko. Noong una, nai-starstruck ako kapag kasama ko siya, parang it’s so surreal na ako ang leading lady niya. Ni hindi ako halos makatingin sa kanya. But what’s so nice about him is he’s very supportive. Para maging comfortable ako sa kanya, nakikipagkuwentuhan siya sa akin off cam, hanggang sa ma-relax ako sa company niya. Kapag nakikita niyang may mga eksenang nahihirapan ako, talagang tinutulungan niya ako para magawa ko nang tama ang trabaho ko. Mapagbigay siya sa kaeksena niya. I will forever be thankful sa kanya for the chance na makatambal siya sa pelikulang ito.”
Piolo said that when Director Dondong Santos told him he wants Yen to be his leading lady, he agreed right away. “I saw her in ‘All of Me’ and I saw na magaling siya umarte at mahal siya ng camera. I know she’ll have a bright future in the industry.”
Did Yen have kissing scenes with Piolo? “Yes po, marami, di ko mabilang. May love scene din po. We were just very professional about it.”
“We didn’t go overboard kasi this is a family movie and we want kids like Raiko Mateo, who plays my son in the movie, to be able to watch it,” adds Piolo. “Pero intense pa rin ang love scene namin, in terms of emotions. Naitawid naman namin nang maayos and done in good taste.”
