Mowelfund's Two Mother, Manay Ichu Maceda And Boots Anson Road, Celebrate Their Birthdays By Raising Funds For Movie Workers In Need

MOWELFUND’S “twin old souls” Chairman Marichu Vera Perez Maceda and President Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, fondly called Manay Ichu and Tita Boots, celebrate their birthdays belatedly to raise funds for movie workers. Manay Ichu and Tita Boots were there when Founding Chairman, now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, established Mowelfund in 1974 to assist the Film Industry’s marginalized workers through its two-fold mandate of welfare benefits and film education.

Forty-three years later, they are still there, daring now to divulge any woman’s best kept secret: her age. Manay Ichu and Tita Boots proudly announce that, recently, they turned 74 and 72, respectively. Manay and Boots have, however, found a very worthy cause to belatedly celebrate theirs on March 11, 2017, with a 6PM mass and fellowship at Mowelfund Plaza at 66 Rosario Drive, Cubao, Quezon City. It will be an informal but “fun” reunion and homecoming of old and new friends and benefactors from in and out of the industry. Mowelfund’s Pillar, Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada, has been invited to be the evening’s “Ninong”. Mowelfund’s other Board directors, Father Larry Faraon, Rez Cortez, Direk Boy Vinarao, Aiza Seguerra, Jim Baltazar, Vice President, Julius Topacio, and Legal Counsel, Atty. Roderick Vera, will be on hand to welcome guests.

Manay and Boots have one ardent request, though: No gifts, please. At their ages, their needs are few. Only their “wants” remain plenty. The latter, however, they will forego to help raise funds for this Foundation which has consistently served needy film workers for more than four decades now. In lieu of gifts, check or cash donations, payable to Mowelfund, Inc. will be welcomed to sustain said services.
