Did she get to meet the President while they were on? “Once, sinama niya ako sa Malacanang. We had dinner.”
They broke up before Christmas. What’s the reason? “Sa amin na lang yun.” Who initiated the breakup? “It was weird kasi he just texted me ‘Ano kaya kung maghiwalay tayo?’ And after that, hindi na kami nag-usap.”
Was she surprised? “Actually, no, kasi before that, may time na ring naghiwalay kami at hindi na kami nag-usap. But after the New Year, nag-usap kami kasi marami pa siyang gamit sa bahay ko. Nung magkita kami uli, friends na lang kami.”
Is she hoping for a reconciliation? “As of now, we’re just really better off as friends. We’re still both very young naman and he wants to do a lot of things. Before him, wala akong boyfriend for two years. E, ako, madaling mag-move on. So let go na lang.”
She’s happy to be in “Moonlight Over Baler”. “This is my third movie with Direk Gil Portes. My first was ‘Bayang Magiliw’ in 2013, about corruption in a small town, then ‘Tag-araw ni Twinkle’, also in 2013, where I played a recovering drug addict. In ‘Moonlight Over Baler’, I play Aurora, dalagang taga-Baler na nagustuhan ni Vin Abrenica, a Japanese photographer na napadpad sa bayan namin. He woos me but ang karibal niya was Abel Estanislao, anak ng mayor, and this leads to some complications dahil he was badly beaten up and told to leave Baler because of his love for me. It’s a very romantic movie na bagay sa Valentine season.”
Direk Gil is so impressed with Ellen’s acting that he says he’d like Ellen to star in his planned remake of “Miss X”, the Vilma Santos movie filmed in Amsterdam about a Pinay prostitute there which was a big hit when it was shown in 1980.
