“No, because we’ve remained friends naman even after our break up more than ten years ago,” she says. “When I was informed na he’ll be my leading man, I said, Great, since I know him already from way back and there’ll be no problem of getting to know each other.”
Her full name is Alexandra Regine Tabuena Godinez and she was born in Hawaii on March 3, 1989, then they moved back to Manila. Martin Nievera, whose mom is a Tabuena, is her uncle. Now 27 years old, she looks younger than her age. She was only 5 when she modeled with Anna Nicole Smith for the launch of Guess Jeans in Manila in 1994. She then tried acting in theatre and was named by Lifestyle Asia as one of Philippine Theatre’s promising Next Breed, but she left Manila and stayed in the U.S. for seven years where she studied acting and music.
She says Matteo’s current GF, Sarah Geronimo, need not get jealous. “Our past ni Matteo is all behind us. I have a boyfriend na rin and eight years na kami. He’s very supportive of my venturing into showbiz. I’ve met Sarah when we dubbed the movie and she’s so nice and kind. She even gave me silvanas. I hope Sarah’s fans will also like me.”
She had a great time playing the daughter of Gabby Concepcion and Dina Bonnevie in “Across the Crescent Moon”. She comes from a Christian family but she chooses to marry a Muslim guy, Matteo. Director Baby Nebrida says she did a good job in the movie. So will she now go on acting in local films?
“Why not? I hope I get good scripts. I still have to work on my Tagalog but I can do it naman, I just need a little more time to rehearse my lines. I’m also open to doing teleseryes and indie films. I’d like to get the chance to work with Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, Bea Alonzo and Andi Eigenmann. I’ve seen their work and they’re really good.”
