How The Love Story Of Former Leyte Congressman Martin Romualdez With Ex-Beauty Queen And Current Rep. Yedda Marie Started

FORMER LEYTE CONGRESSMAN Martin Romualdez is very happy that the bill he authored has been enacted into law: an act expanding the benefits and privileges of PWD or people with disabilities. “They now have the same rights and benefits as senior citizens, with as much as 32% discount, specially in buying medicines,” he says. “We now have a Magna Carta for PWDs and we’ll implement it with the help of the right government agencies.”

The third child of former Governor & Ambassador Benjaim Romualdez, Martin turned 53 on November 14 but he looks younger than his age. He remains to be the national president of the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats and of the Philippine Constitution Association or PhilConsa. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Government from Cornell University in New York and a Special Studies certificate in administration from Harvard. He also obtained a law degree from U.P.

He is married to former Bb. International Yedda Marie Kittilstvedt who’s of Norwegian ancestry and the one who replaced him in congress. They have two sons and two daughters: Andrew, 16 years old; Martin Jr., 15; Minxie, 9 and the youngest is Maddie, who’s just a year old. He met his wife in Cebu before she became a beauty titlist.

“It was at the home of her grandfather, Democrito Mendoza, that I first met her. By the time she won, may M.U. na kami. When she went to Tokyo to compete at the Miss International pageant, she had a problem with her luggage. Overloaded daw. So I ended up going to Tokyo as her alalay, and also to give her support.”

What’s Yedda’s most endearing quality? “She’s a total package. Maganda na, mabait pa, a great wife to me and good mom to our kids. Very caring, kasi she’s a registered nurse. Very loving and nurturing. Beautiful inside and outside and yet she remains very humble.”
