Both of them also went into acting on TV and the movies. Both also won Diamond Record awards, meaning, their album went on to sell 150,000 copies. Julie Anne is now tagged as Asia’s Pop Sweetheart while Christian is tagged as Asia’s Romantic Balladeer. With their achievements in the local and international scenes, concertgoers can expect world class performances in their first concert together, with Marvin Caldito as director and Marc Lopez as musical director, produced by Dreamstar Events and GMA Network. Tickets are now available on Ticketnet.
How does Julie Anne feel sharing the same concert stage with Christian? “It’s an honor na makasama ang isang singer who has also made a name for himself in other countries and I’m excited to do a show with him,” she says. “We’ve had duets in ‘Party Pilipinas’ and ‘Sunday All Stars’ before, but it’s only now na magkakasama kami sa isang full show. I admire him for being so driven, so professional, so focused sa kanyang craft.”
What do they have in store for their audience? “May solo spots kami and may numbers ding magkasama kami. We prepared a special production number na theatrical ang dating, combining love songs from the courtship stage to sweet-sweetan, then to arguments and breakup, and finally, reconciliation. Lahat ng various emotions, pagdaraanan namin doon.”
Everyone knows she’s now playing beautiful music with Benjamin Alves, with whom he started the new soap, “Pinulot Ka Lang sa Lupa”, that will start airing on November 7. Will she invite Benjamin to join them in the show? “I’ve invited him to watch, but not only him but also other artist friends para suportahan naman nila ang show namin ni Christian.”
“Pinulot Ka Lang sa Lupa” is a remake of a 1987 Regal movie directed by Ishmael Bernal. Will she do the Maricel Soriano role? “No, I’m assigned the role of Lorna Tolentino as Santina. LJ Reyes gets the Maricel role as Angeli. Benjamin plays Ephraim, originally played by Gabby Concepcion and the role of Eddie Garcia is now played naman by Victor Neri. I’m thankful to GMA for giving me another acting project after I did ‘Buena Familia’.”
So what’s the real score between her and Benjamin now that they see each other regularly while taping the show? “We’re good, we’re okay. We have many things in common. Pareho kaming mahilig sa music. We can jive and talk about anything. What you see is what you get.”
