JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE is turning 22 on May 17 and her gift to her loyal fans is a big birthday concert, “In Control”, that also celebrates her 10th anniversary in showbiz. Produced by Dreamstar Events, this will be held at the Kia Theatre in Cubao on May 14, 8 PM. Last seen on TV in the hit afternoon soap “Buena Familia”, she says she won’t do a new soap while busy rehearsing for her concert. We notice that she’s slimmer now and sexier. “I work out to prepare for the production numbers I’m doing in the concert,” she says.
“At saka kasi, she’s all woman now, babae na siya,” says the concert’s director, Marvin Caldito, who promises to unveil a completely different Julie Anne in her concert. “It will show her evolution as a performer from the time she started as a child singer up to now that she is a Diamond Record Awardee having sold 150,000 units of her hit album.”
Her last concert was at the MOA Arena no less. How come it’s now in a smaller venue? “I want it to be more intimate kasi it’s my 10th anniversary. Sa 10 years na yun, maraming challenges na dumating sa akin, both personal and work challenges. And all throughout, I think nanatili akong matatag and I want to celebrate this with my supporters who’ve been with me through those 10 years.”
How come some quarters continue to bash her when she appeared with Alden Richards in “Sunday PinaSaya”? “Hindi naman na po mawawala ang bashers. Maligaya sila sa pamba-bash ng mga nasa showbiz. So hindi ko na lang pinapansin.”
What can she say now that her former partner, Elmo Magalona, is now with ABS and paired with Janella Salvador? “I wish him well, both of them. Sana magtagumpay ang show na gagawin nila.”
How about her own love life, how is it? “Zero. It’s the least of my priorities. Lalo ngayon, graduating ako from college sa Angelicum. Talagang determined ako to get a diploma as I think yun ang pinakamagandang regalong puedeng ibigay ng isang anak sa mga magulang niya.”
And you know what, she’s graduating with honors so, congratulations for a job well done, Julie Anne! For tickets to her concert, call Ticketnet at 911-5555, with prices ranging from P1,060 for balcony to P4,240 for VIP seats.
