Claudine Barretto Optimistic That Viva & TV5 Will Bring Back Her Luster As A Soap Opera Star In 'Bakit Manipis Ang Ulap?'

WILL TV5 AND VIVA succeed in bringing back Claudine Barretto’s luster as a soap opera star? Claudine had her heydays in soap in the 90s when she did hits like “Mula sa Puso” and “Saan Ka Man Naroroon”. She now topbills TV5’s “Bakit Manipis ang Ulap?” on TV, co-starring Cesar Montano, Diether Ocampo, Bernard Palanca and Meg Imperial.

She obviously wants to start 2016 with good vibes so she has stopped the annulment case against Raymart Santiago. “Stop muna yan kasi Raymart and I are now really very good friends. We’re trying our best to be good parents to our children. Nag-usap kami, tinanong ko kung may girlfriend na siya. He said hindi na raw siya uli magpapakasal. Sabi ko, ayoko na rin, so huwag na munang mag-annulment. We failed as husband and wife so we don’t want naman to fail rin as parents. We’ve agreed to stop lahat ng mga kaso and just focus on co-parenting in raising our children. Basta when it comes to our kids, lahat, napag-uusapan namin. Nakakalabas kaming kasama ang mga bata at enjoy sila. Pinayagan ko na sila to go out with him and stay with him the whole day in his place.”

So does this mean they’ll eventually reconcile? “Wala kaming napag-uusapang ganun. Alam na naming hindi kami magkakabalikan. Basta we’re trying to be the best of friends for our kids.”

She’s optimistic that viewers will enjoy watching “Bakit Manipis ang Ulap” that starts airing on February 15. It’s a new reimagining of a movie about love, family and betrayal, directed by the late Danny Zialcita which starred Laurice Guillen, Chanda Romero, Janice de Belen, Tommy Abuel and the late Mark Gil.
“Siempre, updated ang story for today’s generation of viewers at puro magagaling ang kasama ko at magaling din ang direktor namin, si Direk Joel Lamangan. Wala kaming choice kasi mabigat ang labanan sa soaps ngayon. May soaps hindi lang sa afternoon and evening kundi pati sa morning na before lunch, so dapat galingan mo talaga for your show to have a fighting chance.”
