Janine Gutierrez On Being Separated From BF Elmo Magalona And Doing Filmfest Entry 'Buy Now Die Later'

IS JANINE GUTIERREZ’ relationship with Elmo Gutierrez adversely affected by his moving over to ABS-CBN? “No, we’re okay, doing great,” she says at the presscon of her very first movie, “Buy Now Die Later”. “It’s his and his management’s decision and I really don’t have anything to say about it except that, whatever happens, I will support him for sure. Madalas pa rin naman kaming nagkikita kahit magkaiba na kami ng network. We still love to go the movies, eat together. When we have time, we go out of town, very spontaneous lang, hindi pinaplano. But right now, bihira kami maka-get away kasi nga pareho kaming busy. He has his soap and I’m taping my morning series for GMA, ‘Dangwa’, where I get to work with different stars kasi we have a new story each week. I’m also doing several movies. Aside from ‘Buy Now Die Later’, I’m shooting two other movies, ‘Lila’ with Enchong Dee for Director Gino Santos sa Sinag Maynila Filmfest in March and ‘Dagsin’ with Ben Alves for Director Tato Magadia sa Cinemalaya in June, 2016.”

Doing “Buy Now Die Later” is a special treat for her since she’s in it with her own mom, Lotlot de Leon. “I’m glad that this is my first movie kasi nga kasama ko si Mommy. But we don’t have any scenes together kasi we play the same character. She as herself in the present at ako, sa scenes na bumabata siya. I also enjoyed working with my co-stars here, who are mostly Kapamilya, like Vhong Navarro, Rayver Cruz, Alex Gonzaga and John Lapus. They’re all very warm It’s also great to work with a young and talented director like Randolph Longjas with very fresh ideas. Ang ganda ng concept niya for the movie where our five senses are involved in a story that is both funny and scary. Ang ganda rin ng set namin built in a vacant building in Binondo, very expensive tapos sinunog lang sa ending. I’m sure viewers will love this horror-comedy that opens on Christmas Day as part of Metro Filmfest.”

Janine has declared her independence from dad Ramon Christopher and has bought her own condo unit. “Inaayos pa and hopefully, makalipat ako in June. I know na importanteng matuto kang mamuhay on your own for you to grow up, be more mature, be more responsible in making your own decisions.”
