Regine Velasquez Doesn't Mind Wearing A Recycled Gown For Her Solaire Theatre Concert But Her Sister Cacai Does

REGINE VELASQUEZ is rehearsing diligently for her fast approaching concert, "Regine at the Theater, to be held at the Theatre at Solaire Hotel and Resorts this coming Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7, then on November 20 and 21. "This is the first time I'm doing something this na tribute sa theatre musicals from Broadway and also from local shows like 'Noli' and 'Fili' and the recent hit, 'Rak of Aegis'," she says. "We come up with new arrangements to make sure magugustuhan ng audience ang mga kantang napili ko for them, like my homage to Maestro Ryan Cayabyab who's no doubt an icon in the local music scene. I'll sing songs from his masterpiece, 'Katy'."

Popular celebrities are now being courted by various politicians to be their endorsers for the coming elections. Have she and husband Ogie Alcasid decided who they will campaign for? "Honestly, hindi naman ako interested sa politics, e. Actually, noong araw, hindi nga ako bumoboto. Noong maging asawa ko na lang si Ogie, doon ako natutong bumoto. Dahil sa kanya, nakaboto ako noong 2013 and definitely, boboto uli ako this coming 2016. But I don't think we're endorsing anybody at hindi pa rin kami decided kung sino ang iboboto namin. Maaga pa naman kasi para mag-decision. We have to study our options muna."

Her musical director for her concert is her own brother in law, Raul Mitra. But she didn't get any stage director anymore. "Magtutulong na lang kami ng sister kong si Cacai on what I and my guests na sina Audie Gemora, Jonalyn Viray and Aicelle Santos will do on stage."

Recycled gowns are very much in the news these days because of Yaya Dub. Will she be wearing a recycled one? "Keber ko ba kahit recycled gowns ang gamitin ko. I don't mind kasi ang mahal-mahal ng bayad, tapos minsan mo lang gagamitin. Bili ko na lang ng gatas ng anak ko."

It's her sister Cacai who butts in to answer the question. "She doesn't wear recycled gowns. She doesn't need to kasi nag-aagawan ang mga bading na designer na gustong magdamit sa kanya kapag may concert. E, di ba si Regine naman ang reyna ng mga bading, so hindi kailangang mag-recycle. Puro original ang gowns na isinusuot niya."

Cacai wants to remind Regine's fans that they cannot just go to Solaire as walk-ins to buy tickets. "Before going to Solaire, bumili na kayo ng ticket sa SM Cinemas and SM Ticketnet outlets kasi exclusive kami sa SM."
