And what’s sad is that most people don’t really know what the APEC is and how it might affect their lives. Talk about kababawan in social media, a lot of people are more concerned as to who’s the best looking world leader. They’re debating whether it’s Pres. Enrique Nieto of Mexico or Canadian Prime Minister Julian Trudeau.
This prompted our friend David Ralph Lleno to comment: “Dear Pinoys, When Pope Francis was here, you looked for good looking priests serving during the mass. Now during APEC, GMA itself asks: "Who is your APEC hottie?". Please, let's just educate the public on what the APEC is, what its effects are on our country and how our leaders are handling the summit. I know it's just a fun piece but, shallow people that we are, we'd rather focus on the fluff rather than the substance.”
And yes, Kris Aquino was trending in social media because of her photos with Pres. Nieto of Mexico as they laid wreaths in Luneta and we later together at the Malacanang Palace state dinner. It’s said the Mexican president himself was the one who requested that Kris be the presidential to attend to him. Kris said she was “Pleasantly surprised & extremely flattered to have been requested.”
Kris said she first met Pres. Nieto when the Mexican president dropped by our country last year for the refuelling of his plane at Villamor Air Base. Some bashers immediately pounced on Kris and accused her of flirting with the 49-year old Mexican prexy. But for your information, Pres. Nieto is very much married (to Angelica Rivera, his second wife after he was widowed) and has for children.
