Why Kris Aquino Is Backing Out From The Metro-Manila FilmFest Entry She Is Supposed To Do For Star Cinema

KRIS AQUINO has backed out from her Metro Filmfest entry which was first titled “Mr. & Mrs. Split”, then became “Pamilya Luv Luv Luv” and “All You Need is Pag-ibig”. The official reason she gave is that they weren’t able to get the cinematographer she wants for the movie, Neil Daza, who also did her current “Etiquette for Mistresses”.

“Hindi maayos-ayos ang schedule niya so I took it as a sign from God na huwag nang piliting ituloy yan,” she says. “I apologized na to Star Cinema for all the stress I gave them because of this project. I will shoulder the penalty of P500,000 sa Metro Manila Filmfest screening committee dahil sa hindi pagkakatuloy ng project.”

But someone told us the real reason why she backed out is she’s not happy with the script by ANtoinette Jadaone which seems to be making fun of the mistakes she made in real life. “Ayaw niyang ginagawa siya ang katatawanan and the people would laugh at her expense,” says our source.

With Kris’ entry backing out, that means John Lloyd Cruz’ movie with Director Erik Matti, “Honor They Father (which already got acclaim at the recent Toronto International Filmfest), now has a good chance of making it as an official entry since it’s the one that’s next on the waiting list.

Honestly, we believe that Kris made the right decision in pulling out her entry. For the past several years, she’s always one of the topgrossers with her horror film entries like “Dalaw”, “Segunda Mano” and “Feng Shui 2”. Now, she’ll suddenly join the festival with a romantic comedy? Not a very wise decision as far as we’re concerned, especially now that she’d be up against with the AlDub romantic movie.
