Kris Bernal Cries With Rejected 'Starstruck 6' Aspirants But Happy To Star As A Mentally Challenged Young Mom In 'Little Mommy'

KRIS BERNAL, as co-host of “Starstruck 6”, really sympathized with the four ousted artista wannabes when the Final 14 candidates were chosen last Friday. We were there and we saw the compassionate Kris crying with them and doing her best to console the tearful rejected aspirants.

“Sorry if I also became emotional pero talagang hindi ko mapigilang makiiyak ako sa kanila,” she says. “I became quite close na kasi sa kanila and I felt yung pain na nararamdaman nila. Noong araw kasi, ako rin, madalas na nasa bottom so alam ko yung feelings na pinagdaanan nila. But it’s not necessarily the end of their journey for them. Sana mabigyan sila uli ng ibang chance at huwag sila basta agad susuko.”

As for her, a new soap is waiting for her right after her hosting chores in “Starstruck 6”. This is “Little Mommy”, the story of a mentally challenged young woman who’s biologically in her mid-20s but has the intellectual capacity of a 7-year old, something like “I Am Sam” which starred Sean Penn years ago. It was Carla Abellana who was first considered for the role but GMA management changed minds and gave it to Kris instead.

“I’m really so thankful na sa akin naibigay ang ganito kagandang project,” she says. “Very challenging ang role kasi mabubuntis ako at a very young age, then magkaka-baby ako na gusto namang kunin sa akin dahil hindi raw ako fit maging ina because of my intellectual disability. I promise to do my best para magampanan ko nang tama ang role na ito at hindi ako mapahiya sa pagtitiwalang ibinigay sa akin ng GMA. Ninenerbiyos nga ako kasi makakasama ko sa show ang dalawang acting legends ng local showbiz, si Tito Eddie Garcia and Ms. Nora Aunor. I’m looking forward to working with them kasi alam kong malaki ang maitutulong nila sa akin para mag-improve ako in my craft. I’m really excited na masimulan na ang taping ng ‘Little Mommy’ para makasama ko na sila, along with Mark Herras, Sunshine Dizon, Rap Fernandez, Gladys Reyes, child actress Chlaui Malayao and Direk Ricky Davao as our director.”
