'Heneral Luna' On Its 5th Week Of Showing Has Hit The P200 Million Mark, 'Gregorio Del Pilar' Next To Be Produced

THE LANDMARK historical film ‘Heneral Luna’, which was chosen for submission in the Oscar’s best foreign language film category, is now officially on its 5th week of showing in theaters. It has already reached the P200 million mark, making it the highest earning period-costume film in the history of local cinema ever.

They still have to earn P40 million more to be able to break even, but the producers, Fernando Ortigas and Ed Rocha, have already announced that they’re ready to produce their next historical film on the life of Gen. Gregorio del Pilar.

If you watched ‘Heneral Luna’, then you would have noticed that they already shown at its ending a teaser about this project, with Paulo Avelino in the title role. We’re sure this will be directed once again by Jerrold Tarog who did a very good job in ‘Heneral Luna’. If the del Pilar movie would again be a hit, their next project is a biopic of the late Pres. Manuel Luis Quezon.
