Jeremy Marquez, Son Of Joey Marquez, Sure To Run As Vice Governor Of Paranaque

JOEY MARQUEZ says he's retiring from politics and will just help his eldest son, Jeremy, in his bid to be the next vice mayor of Paranaque. But Joey remains busy with his showbiz career. He just won best supporting actor awards for Erik Matti's "On the Job" and "Kubot, Aswang Chronicles 2". He also just appeared in ABS-CBN's "Forevermore" that ran for seven months. "Nami-miss ko na nga yung magandang location namin in Baguio," he says.

Joey presented his son in a special lunch with the press at Victorino's. Jeremy used to be in showbiz himself, doing shows like "Darna" and "Captain Barbell" and the talk show "S Files". He last appeared in "Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap" with Dennis Trillo in 2007. "By that time, na-elect ako as the youngest barangay captain in BF Homes, where I've been serving as the number one barangay kagawad. For three months, pinagsabay ko ang pagiging barangay captain at paggawa ng soap and at the end of each day, sobrang pagod ko. I realized hindi ko kayang pagsabayin ang dalawa as I'm serious in my desire to be a public servant. So kahit enjoy ako sa showbiz, I had to say goodbye to it."

Jeremy is referred to as Anak ng Masa ng Paranaque and is now a councilor there. He's also the national auditor of Liga ng mga Barangay ng Pilipinas and member of the Philippine Councilors League and National Movement of Young Legislators. His personal slogan is Journey in Excellence and he wants to provide the people of Paranaque with a better alternative. At 35, Jeremy remains a bachelor. "Naghahanap na nga sila ng first lady ng aming barangay."

Well, he could present his current flame, Gwen Zamora. How are they? "We're very happy for the past few months. Maganda siya, mabait, malambing, she has a good heart. I've introduced her to the people in our barangay and she helped out in our project for indigent mother na binigyan nila ng make over at pinag-shopping pa, then she had dinner with their families. She told me nag-enjoy siya."

So do we hear wedding bells ringing soon? "I'd really be a very lucky guy kung siya nga ang mapapangasawa ko, but right now, we're not in a rush. She knows magiging very busy ako sa kampanya to be vice mayor. She's very understanding at alam niyang yun muna ang focus ko as of now."
