Regine Velasquez Denies She's Joining Husband Ogie Alcasid At TV5 Soon, Says She's Happy With GMA-7

REGINE VELASQUEZ is the face of PLDT HOME’s Mother’s Day Campaign that introduces its new landline Telsets called the Regine Series. She had a grand launch at Annabel’s and PLDT Marketing Head Gary Dujali says she’s the perfect endorser for their campaign as she’s the voice for PLDT Home, she being not only a great singer-actress but also a doting mom to her precocious three-year old son, Nathaniel James, or Nate for short.

“Everything in my life changed completely when I became a mom,” says Asia’s Songbird. “Nate is turning 4 in November and I’m so proud of my son as he’s not a spoiled brat but very well behaved. He’s also very intelligent as he started reading when he was 2 years old. My husband and I are really so proud of him. He reads a lot so he now has a wide vocabulary. We’re training him to speak fluently in both English and Tagalog. Motherhood is a wonderful experience for me and I learn something new about being a parent everyday.”

Is it true she’s soon also moving to TV5 like her hubby Ogie Alcasid? “No, even if I want to, I cannot because I’m still under contract with GMA-7. And I have no plans of moving kasi ang bait naman ng GMA sa akin. As of now, my only show with them is ‘Sarap Diva’ and it’s my choice. I’m glad they understand that now that Nate is in his formative years, I really want to spend more time with him.”

It’s said that she was being assigned to do “Let the Love Begin” but she declined because she didn’t want to work with Ariel Rivera and Ai Ai de las Alas. “That’s not true. Bakit naman ako tatangging makasama sila? Si Ariel, I just worked with him in the musical drama special we did with Julie Anne San Jose last Christmas. At si Ai Ai, okay naman kami. I had to turn it down kasi when it was offered to me, one week na lang magte-taping na. E, ang dami ko ng natanguang ibang commitments so I had to beg off. They’re now offering me another TV series na pinaghalong drama at comedy and I’m considering doing it.”

Is she really using the new PLDT landline phones that she is plugging? “To be honest, not right now kasi nga our house is being renovated for about a year now. Actually, mas gusto ko talaga ng landline kaysa sa cellphone kasi mas maganda makipag-usap sa landline. Sa cell, kung minsan, tatawag ka o magte-text ka sa mga tao sa bahay, tapos hindi sumasagot. Unlike sa landline, kapag nag-ring, napipilitan silang sagutin. Hopefully, by July, makalipat na kami sa aming bagong bahay at makabitan na ako ng landline and also ng PLDT Fam Cam para may camera rin kami sa loob ng bahay.”

With the Mother’s Day special offer, subscribers can get new telsets for as low as only P75/month complete with caller ID or answering machine, free NDD calls nationwide plus P10 per call to SMART/Talk n Text and add only P50/month for free 15 minute calls per month to USA, Canada, China, Hongkong, Singapore and Guam.
