James Reid & Nadine Lustre Does A Different Kind Of Kissing Scene With A Fishy Smell In 'Para Sa Hopeless Romantic'

JAMES REID and Nadine Lustre have been paired in two hits before, “Diary ng Panget” and “Talk Back & You’re Dead” but it’s only in their third screen outing, “Para sa Hopeless Romantic” that they finally get to kiss each other on the lips.

“But it’s not an ordinary lips-to-lips laplapan scene,” says their director, Andoy Ranay. “Medyo may pagkamalansa kasi naghalikan sila while eating tuyo.” So how do the lips of James taste? “Lasang-tuyo nga po,” says Nadine.

Is that really the way their director planned to shoot that particular scene? “Actually nga, parang biglaan lang ang nangyari. Wala yun sa script. But before the take, biglang naisip ni Direk na para magkaroon naman ng ibang level yung kissing scene namin, dapat mangyari ito habang kumakain kami ng champorado with tuyo. Kinunan ito sa tabing dagat pa sa Manila Bay.” “Spur of the moment lang yun,” adds Direk Andoy. “Kunwari, kumakain si James ng tuyo, tapos he realized hindi niya type ang tuyo and he tells Nadine, ‘No, I don’t like it’. Kukunin ni Nadine yung pieces of tuyo sa lips niya, pero malalaglag ang mga ito, and he then kisses Nadine on the lips. O, di ba? Iba naman. Naging malansa ang pagmamahalan nila. And I have to commend them both dahil pareho silang game na gawin ang eksena.”

“Actually, it’s insane,” says James. “Because I really hate tuyo! I was saying nga, hindi ba puedeng chocolates, strawberries, candy, or anything? Basta huwag lang tuyo. But Direk said iba ang novelty factor ng tuyo, so tuyo it is. Watch ‘Hopeless Romantic’ when it opens in theatres on May 13 and tell us how you find that kissing scene with tuyo.
