“I got excited when it was offered to me as I’d get to work again with Direk Rory Quintos who I’ve worked with na before in ‘Saan Darating ang Umaga’ and ‘Maria La Del Barrio’,” says Ian. “Also, the original ‘Pangako’ was so successful, so I know the new version would be a high quality production, a big project. In fact, they tell me it is ABS-CBN’s biggest show for 2015, so I’m so proud to be a part of it.”
For sure, he’d be compared with Tonton. “He did a wonderful job as Eduardo and hats off ako diyan. But I believe that actors have different interpretations and the end result always comes out as a personal expression of who we are as individuals. All our past experiences in our own lives is what transforms character into a real person. I just hope viewers will find my own take on the role also satisfying.”
In the trailer, Jodi as Amor compares him to Richard Gomez while Angelica as Claudia says he look like Aga Mulach. “Kaya naman nila ako kino-compare kina Aga at Goma is para ma-establish ‘yung time frame namin na we were in the 90’s when the story starts. And that time, para sa mga kababaihan, silang dalawa ang standards of their ideal man then. Both of them are good friends of mine, so I’m sure matatawa sila when they watch the show.”
How is it working with his two leading ladies, Jodi Sta. Maria and Angelica Panganiban? “They’re both impressive. Jodi is just so pleasant, on and off screen. She has a very positive outlook in life and I enjoy having long conversations with her. Angelica naman has a wonderful sense of humor and it’s so easy to get along with her. When it comes to work, they’re both very professional and you can see na mahal talaga nila ang craft nila so I have to do my best para maka-level up sa kanila.”
