Star Music's Morisette All Set To Be The Next Big Diva

MORISETTE AMON was 14 years old when she joined TV5’s Star Factor in 2010. She was runner up to Eula Caballero and appeared in some TV5 shows. In 2013, she left TV5 and joined “The Voice” on ABS-CBN. She became part of Team Sarah Geronimo but she didn’t become a finalist. She was eliminated in semi-finals, losing out to Klarisse de Guzman, who in turn lost to Mitoy Yonting of Team Lea Salonga. Now, Morisette is more popular than Klarisse or Mitoy.

Her popularity started when she recorded the theme song of the soap “Moon of Desire”. She then did her own version of the Himig Handog winner, “Anong Nangyari sa Ating Dalawa”, as the theme song of the hit soap “Two Wives”. After that, she also recorded her own version of “Kapag Ako ang Nagmahal” that’s now used as theme song of “Flor de Liza”. She has also just recorded “Di Maipaliwanag”, which will be the theme song of the Koreanovela, “My Lonely Girl”, starring Korean superstar Rain. Obviously, she has replaced Angeline Quinto as the Queen of Teleserye theme songs. She also had her own hit, “Akin Ka Na Lang”, an entry in the last Himig Handog. In the movies, she sang “Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now” with Daniel Padilla as theme song of the Kathniel hit, “Crazy Beautiful You”.

Born on June 2, 1996 in Cebu, she was named after Alanis Morisette who was very popular that time. She has now dropped her surname Amon. “Mas mabilis daw ang recall ng one name kaya Morisette na lang ang ginagamit ko,” she says.

Star Music has just released her self-titled debut album, with “Di Maipaliwanag” as carrier single. Other songs in her album are “Hinahanap Pa Rin”, “Throwback” with KZ Tandingan, “Mahal Kita, Mahal Mo Siya, Mahgal Niya ay Iba”, “Run Like a Warrior”, the acoustic version of “Akin Ka Na Lang”, “Anong Nangyari sa Ating Dalawa”, “Kapag Ako ay Nagmahal” and “Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now”.

How does she feel when some bashers say she’s aping Sarah Geronimo? “Okay lang. Ate Sarah is my coach in ‘The Voice’ and she knows she’s really my idol. Napakabait niya, itinuring akong kapatid and twins daw kami. But siempre, I want to create my own identify and image. Maraming naiturong techniques sa’kin si Kuya Kiko Salazar, who produced my album. Hindi lang yung sigaw or birit. I want to be known as a total performer. And I hope people will feel that once they hear the songs from my album.”

Morissette’s album is now available at all record bars nationwide for only P199. Digital tracks can also be downloaded via online music stores such as iTunes and Mymusicstore.com.ph. For more info, visit Starmusic.ph or follow the Star FB, IG and Twitter accounts.
