GMA-7 Confident They Will Have A New Teen Love Team Viewers Will Love In Ruru Madrid And Gabbi Garcia

GMA-7 IS launching big time the new teen love team of Ruru Madrid and Gabbi Garcia on primetime in “Let the Love Begin”, which replaces “Once Upon a Kiss” starting May 4. Their tandem was first seen in “My Destiny”, then they did “Seasons of Love”. Understandably, they’re both nervous and feeling pressured about it.

“But we’re confident that with our director, Gina Alajar, and the other big stars who are with us in the cast led by Tita Ai Ai de las Alas, siguro naman, maraming maku-curious na manood ng aming show at magtatagumpay kami sa ratings,” says Ruru, who’s the runner up in the artista search, “Protege”. “Hindi kami talaga makapaniwala when we were told na ilo-launch kami sa ganito kalaking project,” says Gabbi. “We feel so blessed kasi wala pang isang taon yung love team naming nabuo sa ‘My Destiny’, tapos ngayon, may launching na kami.”

Who’s the better teen love team: theirs or that of Miguel Tanfelix and Bianca Umali in “Once Upon a Kiss”? “Let us just let the viewers be the judge,” says Ruru. “Or you could ask our director.”

We ask Gina Alajar if she believes Ruru and Gabbi are ripe for launching? “Oo naman. Maganda ang chemistry nila at pareho silang malalim, napakahusay umarte even if they’re so young. Both very talented, okay rin silang kumanta. Sila mismo ang kumanta ng theme song namin. Marami silang gugulatin dito.”

“Let the Love Begin” is not really a remake of the hit Richard Gutierrez-Angel Locsin movie. They just got the title, but the story is now so different. For the first time, a TV drama explores the world of radio people. Ai Ai plays Jeni, a top DJ whose team up on radio with Gardo Versoza as DJ Tony, is a hit with listeners. Ai Ai is heartbroken with her past love, Joko Diaz, with whom she has two kids. Gardo is a widower with a daughter. Ai Ai falls for Gardo and thinks he’s also in love with her, so she tells him her feelings while they’re guesting on a TV show, but it turns out Gardo has another girl, Donita Rose.

Ai Ai gets very bitter and resigns from their radio show. Her eldest son grows up to be Ruru while Gardo’s daughter grows up to be Gabbi. They fall in love without knowing their parents have a big conflict. Also in the cast are Mark Anthony Fernandez as Jom, the station manager in the new radio network where Ai Ai moves; Gladys Reyes as DJ Katy Fairy, Ai Ai’s chief rival; Gina Pareno as Lola Tacing, Ai Ai’s hip mom; Noel Trinidad as Milton, Gina’s past love; Rita Daniela as Luchie, Gabbi’s rival over Ruru; plus Ricardo Cepeda, Phytos Ramirez, Abel Estanislao, Angeli Bayani, Angel Aviles, Nomer Limatog, Therese Malvar, Ren Escano and Ai Ai’s eldest son, Sancho de las Alas, in his first teleserye.
