Mikael Daez Renews Contract With GMA And Gets New Soap To Be Shot On Location In Cambodia

MIKAEL DAEZ just renewed his exclusive contract as a Kapuso star last March 25 and feels jubilant to know that his next assignment is a soap that will be shot on location in Cambodia no less. He's paired anew with Andrea Torres, with whom he has done three soaps: "Sana ay Ikaw na Nga", "With a Smile" and "Lihim ni Annasandra". Their love team is said to be very popular in Cambodia. They will be flying to Siem Reap, Cambodia this coming April and will stay there for three weeks to finish all their scenes there.

"I'd like to thank GMA for all their good projects for me," he says. "Andrea and I were so surprised that our new soap will be shot in Cambodia. We have made personal appearance in our show there and we were so amazed at their warm reception. Hits pala roon ang previous soaps na ginawa namin at naipalabas doon. Sobrang nakakatuwa kasi who'd think that the local shows we're doing here, e magiging patok din pala sa ibang bansa? Happy talaga ako sa four years ko sa GMA kasi I've done not only dramas but also comedies, like 'Bubble Gang' and 'Ismol Family', and I also get to host a travel show and the food segment 'Midnight Express' in the news program 'Saksi'."

So, will he be taking a leave of absence from his current shows while taping a new soap abroad? "No, naayos na ng GMA Artist Center ang schedule ko para tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang appearance ko in my existing shows. 20 days lang naman kaming mawawala, so that can be managed."
