Meet Rita Daniela, The Singer, Who Used To Be Rita De Guzman, The Villain

WHEN SHE WON as Pop Star Kids grand champion, she was known as Rita Iringan. No doubt her family name won’t help further her career as it means ‘conflict’ or ‘feud’ in Tagalog, so it was changed to De Guzman, the surname of her maternal grandfather, the late comedian Teroy de Guzman. She appeared as villain in several soaps and she’s really quite good at it. But singing remains to be her first love, so now, she undergoes another name change and will be known from now on Rita Daniela, still under GMA Artist Center. Daniela is her second name in real life.

A few days ago, she formally signed up with GMA Records to launch her first album in her new identity as the edgy and mature artist that Rita Daniela is. Rita says it is a dream come true for her to come up with an album where she can be herself.
“Changing my name is just a career move now that I’m focusing more on my singing,” she says. “My first album will be may pagka-dance R&B ang most cuts. Tapos yung ibang tracks, pang-chill lang, and ito po talaga yung sound ko. Tapos na po yung Rita na Pop Star Kid, yung sweet. So this time si Rita Daniela, edgy and more adventurous na siya. Sobrang happy akong finally, mashe-share ko na sa mga tao yung album na matagal ko nang hinihintay.”

Rita’s first single entitled ‘Fly High’ will be released this April. Expect a brand new Rita Daniela as she introduces a delightful side of her that no one has ever witnessed before.
