All Is Set For Metro Manila Filmfest With 8 Mainstream Entries And 5 Indie Entries In New Wave Section

MMDA CHAIRMAN Francis Tolentino officially presented at Sampaguita Gardens the 8 official entries in the coming Metro Manila Filmfest that opens on Christmas Day nationwide. The entries are: Regal’s “Shake, Rattle and Roll 15” starring Erich Gonzales, JC De Vera in the “Ahas” episode: Dennis Trillo, Carla Abellana in the “Ulam” episode and Lovi Poe, Matteo Guidicelli in the “Flight 666” episode.

Quantum Films’ “English Only, Please” starring Derek Ramsay, Jennylyn Mercado, Tom Rodriguez, Isabel Oli and Kean Cipriano.

Reality Entertainment’s “Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles 2” starring Dingdong Dantes and Isabelle Daza.

M-zet-APT-Octoarts’ “My Big Bossing” starring Vic Sotto and Ryzza Mae Dizon in all the stories of this trilogy, with Marian Rivera in “Taktak” episode, Pauleen Luna in “Sirena” episode, and Nikki Gil in “Prinsesa” episode.

Scenema Concepts’ “Muslim Magnum .357” starring Jeorge Estregan and Sam Pinto.

Star Cinema’s “Praybeyt Benjamin 2” starring Vice Ganda, Richard Yap and Bimby Yap.

Star Cinema’s “Feng Shui 2” starring Kris Aquino and Coco Martin.

“Bonifacio: Ang Unang Pangulo” starring Robin Padilla, Vina Morales, Daniel Padilla and Jasmine Curtis Smith.

Before the mainstream entries, the indie films in the MMFF’s New Wave Section will be shown at SM Megamall and Glorietta from December 17 to 24. These are “Magkakabaung” starring Allen Dizon (who has already won two international awards for his role here) and Gladys Reyes; “M, My Mother’s Maiden Name” starring Zsa Zsa Padilla, Gloria Sevilla and Nico Antonio; “Mulat” starring Jake Cuenca (who won best actor in International Filmfest Manhattan for his role here), Ryan Eigenmann and introducing Loren Burgos; “Maratabat” starring Ping Medina, Julio Diaz and Chanel Latorre.

“Gemini” starring Mon Confiado, Lance Raymundo and twin sisters Sheena and Brigitte McBride.

At the MMFF presscon, only Robin of “Bonifacio” was the big lead star who showed up. Father and son Niño and Alonzo Muhlach represented “Big Bossing”. The Parade of Stars, which ushers in the MMFF, will be on December 23, starting at 1PM from Bradco Ave. passing Diosdado Macapagal Highway, EDSA, Roxas Blvd. and ends at the Quirino Grandstand . The awards night will be on December 27 at PICC Plenary Hall.
