Katrina Halili In Control Of Her Life, Enjoys Playing Dying Child's Mom In Louie Ignacio's 'Child House'

KATRINA HALILI had her hair cut very short after playing the role of Miguel Tanfelix’ mother in the recent hit “Nino” and it becomes her. At the presscon of her new movie, “Child House”, she came in tighfitting leggings and a sexy blouse you wouldn’t expect she’s already a mom to her baby girl, Katrence. So what’s with her new hairdo?

“It’s a statement, nagising na si Sleeping Beauty,” she says. “I’m more mature now, mas aggressive na ako. Nag-level up na.”

What does she mean exactly? “It means I can now be a better mom to my daughter. I can guide her well. Ngayon pa lang, pinaghahandaan ko na ang education niya.”

Does she regret having a relationship with Kris Lawrence, the girl’s dad? “No. No regrets. Best of friends pa rin kami. Lagi siya sa bahay, but we’re not together anymore. He’s there as Kate’s dad. Nagtutulong kami to raise her.”

Her contract with GMA-7 is ending in January. She doesn’t know yet if she’d be renewed. “Basta kung dati, tinatanggap ko lang ang anumang dumarating sa akin, now, I am more active in shaping up my future. Kundi ako ire-renew, I have other plans, but I won’t reveal it yet.”

She’s happy that while she doesn’t have a new soap yet, this new movie “Child House” came up. “Maganda yung role ko as the mother of a boy with cancer, si Miggs Cuaderno. But unlike other mothers na defeatist ang attitude, ako, optimistic. Kikay na kikay. Because of this, other mothers in ‘Child House’ where we stay misinterpret me as a carefree mom who doesn’t care much for her sick son. I am even accused of flirting with the father of another child. They misjudge me. I can identify with that because other people also misjudged me before. I’m glad to be part of this film that shows the plight of children afflicted with cancer and their struggles to survive, also their parents. I’d like to thank Direk Louie Ignacio for getting me for my role. Natutuwa rin ako kasi kasama ko rito si Nadine Samonte na ka-batch ko sa Starstruck.”
