Mother Lily Signs Up Janelle Salvador As Her Newest Regal Baby To Star In Horror Flick 'Retreat House'

JANELLE SALVADOR, the pretty teener who plays Sir Chief’s daughter in “Be Careful with My Heart”, is Mother Lily’s newest Regal Baby. Janelle is the daughter of singer Jenine Desiderio and rocker Juan Miguel Salvador. She’s with Star Magic but co-managed by Manny Valera who signed up with her for her contract with Regal. Her first movie is the horror flick “Retreat House”, directed by Jun Lana.

“I feel so blessed dahil sunod-sunod ang blessings sa akin,” says Janella, who turned 16 on March 30. “Fan ako ng ‘Shake Rattle & Roll’ movies so sana, isama rin ako ni Mother Lily sa bagong edition ng ‘Shake’.”

She’s being linked to her co-stars in “Be Careful”, Jerome Ponce and Marlo Mortel, but she says they’re just good friends. “Wala pong ligawan sa amin,” she insists.

She’s said to be the rival of Julia Barretto, her batchmate in Star Magic. What can she say? “Wala po. Ayokong mag-comment kasi may bashers. Ayaw pinagko-compare kami. So basta pinagbubuti ko na lang ang trabaho ko. Julia and I are actually good friends.”

She won’t say who she’d like to be paired with among Kapamilya young actors. Didn’t she mention before that she’d like to work with Daniel Padilla? “Naku, wag na lang. Kasi nagagalit yung KathNiel fans, inaaway ako. So bahala na kung sinuman ang ipe-pair sa akin.”

A high school sophomore at the Master’s Academy, Janella has done several commercials like Palmolive Shampoo and Charmee. She was named Most Promising Female Star by the Guillermo Mendoza Awards and the Star Awards and won Candy Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Female Rising Star Award.

How’s her dad? “I don’t know. The last time I saw him was when I was 10 years old. I’m trying to reach out to him. Tine-text ko siya, like nung birthday niya. Noong mas maliit pa ako, hinahanap ko talaga siya, kasi may classmates ako na may dads sila tapos, ako, wala. But now, it’s my mom who is both mom and dad to me.”

Her mom was with her during the contract signing. Is Jenine a stage mom? “Hindi po, stage actress po siya,” she laughs, looking at her mom who was deliberately trying to stay in the sidelights.

Since her dad is an absentee father, doesn’t she intend to change her family name, just like what Julia Barretto did? She didn’t answer but just laughed.
