LJ Reyes Wishes She'd Be In Friendlier Terms With Paulo Avelino

LJ REYES is the only female member of the cast of “The Janitor”. She plays Dennis Trillo’s wife. “It’s nice to be part of Cinemalaya again,” she says. “I won my first acting award for the Cinemalaya entry, ‘The Leaving’, three years ago. And it’s nice to be working with Dennis in a movie. We’ve worked before in ‘Zaido’ on TV, pero hindi kami ang magkapareha. Now, nali-link kami dahil magkasama kami rito sa movie, but the truth is, walang ligawang nagaganap.”

After her breakup with Paulo Avelino, LJ says she remains loveless. But Paulo is being linked to KC Concepcion. How does she feel about it? “I’ve never met KC and I’ve never seen them together, but I honestly feel happy for them kung happy sila with each other. Wala namang masama if they fall in love with each other. I’ll be happy kung happy si Paulo kasi, kahit anupang sabihin, tatay siya ng anak ko. I respect him at hindi naman niya pinababayaan ang anak namin. I can see he really cares for our son. He always tries to find time for the boy. May communication din kami through our son, like now, we exchange emails in planning our son’s 4th birthday on July 24. I wish nga na we’d be good friends para hindi kami mahirapang magtulong in raising our son.”

If ever she’d fall in love again, what’s she looking for her next boyfriend? “First of all, dapat, mahalin rin niya ang anak ko. Definitely, next time, I’ll be more careful. Dapat makahanap ako ng taong mamahalin hindi lang ako kundi pati anak ko. Hindi naman ako nagmamadaling mahanap yung taong yun. He’ll come in God’s own time.”

As far as her career is concerned, she’s quite satisfied. “Kasama ako sa remake ng ‘Yagit’ ni Direk Gina Alajar and now, with this movie, I feel so proud na ako lang ang babae in a big cast na puro lalaki ang bida, headed by the likes of Dennis, Richard Gomez, Derek Ramsay, Ricky Davao. I’m really thankful to Direk Mike Tuviera for making me a part of ‘The Janitor’.”
