TV5 IS GIVING a break in showbiz to the Semerad Twins, David John (older by 5 minutes) and Anthony Paul as co-hosts of Lucy Torres Gomez in the new dance show, “Celebrity Dance Battle”. Born and raised in Brisbane, Australia, they’re Catholics with a Pinay mom, Evelyn David who’s a grade school teacher, and a Czech dad, Roman Semerad who’s into the construction business, their birth date is April 25, 1991. They lived in Prague, Czech Republic for four years then returned to Brisbane. They now both stand 6’5” and weigh 215 lbs.
Managed by Arnold Vegafria, they both play for the San Beda Red Lions where they take up business marketing. They tried to move to Ateneo but it wants them to go back to first year college, so they decided to return to San Beda. Both love to cook, practice clean living, no smoking and no alcohol, but they don’t live together. David, who claims he’s more outgoing, lives in Alabang while Anthony, who says he’s more shy, lives in Greenhills. David has a girlfriend, 2011 Miss World 1st runner up Gwen Ruais.
Anthony says he’s single and ready to mingle, but admits he has a crush on Jasmine Curtis Smith who also grew up in Australia like them and now also with the Kapatid Network. Would he like to appear in a movie or TV show with Jasmine? “Yes, in the future,” he says. “I’ve met her and she’s so mabait. Right now, my Tagalog is not fluent. We have a tutor who teaches us. I need more practice.”
Doesn’t he have a girlfriend? “Now, none. In Brisbane, I had more like high school flings. Now, I just want to focus more on basketball, my studies and ‘Celebrity Dance Battle’.”
How is Lucy Torres as a co-host? “Very easy to get along with. Mabait siya. The whole staff of TV5 is okay, everything is very smooth sailing. We’re enjoying working with everyone, including our director GB Sampedro.”`
Did they really come to Manila to join showbiz? “No, we came to study and play basketball. It’s really our sport but in Australia, they’re all into football, rugby or cricket. Then our manager saw us and told us to try showbiz. First, he got us a lot of endorsements and now, we’re having our first TV show.”
The judges in their show are Powerdance guru Douglas Nierras, ballroom queen Edna Ledesma, actress-host G Toengi and America’s Next Top Model runnerup Allison Harvard. Their first telecast will be next Saturday, March 22 at 8:45 PM and their first celebrity guests will be actress Valerie Concepcion, Miss International Queen 2012 winner transgender Kevin Balot, former Miss Earth Priscilla Meirelles and PBA-Smart Gilas cager Gary “El Granada” David. Don’t miss it!
