NADINE SAMONTE felt so proud shooting the ‘Studio 5’ original movie, “When I Fall in Love”, with the formidable tandem of Nora Aunor and Tirso Cruz III as her parents. “I know how popular their love team was in the 70s and I’m glad I was given the chance to work with them,” she says. “Nakasama ko na sila before in ‘Sa Ngalan ng Ina’, but most comfortable na ako with them sa ngayon. Lahat ng eksena ko, sila ang kasama ko, and sometimes, natitigilan ako kapag kaeksena ko sila as they’re both really very good. Sa story, you’d think they’re an ideal couple, but it’ll be revealed na may secret pala sila dahil nangaliwa ang daddy ko noong araw. They think kaming mga anak nila, Marc Abaya and I, hindi namin alam na yung batang pinalaking ampon ng family namin, si Felix Roco, is really the bastard child of our dad sa ibang babae. Maraming madramang eksena kasi ako rin, hiwalay from my own husband, si John James Uy, at hindi ko ma-accept na nangaliwa rin siya noong araw.”
Off cam, she admits she’s now engaged to the son of Isabel Rivas, Richard Chua. Coincidentally, Emerson, her past boyfriend of nearly seven years, was also surnamed Chua. “Eight months pa lang kami ni Richard but first month pa lang namin, nag-propose na siya at binigyan na ako later ng engagement ring. E, yung isa, seven years, never nag-propose. Tawa lang ako nang tawa and I said, seryoso ka ba? E, serious daw siya. So sige. 37 na siya and 25 naman ako. I can feel nakakatulong yung age gap para mag-work ang relationship namin. Magkasundo kami sa maraming bagay. I’ve met his family sa farm nila in Zambales and they’re okay. Gusto rin siya ng family ko. E, yun ngang mga ka-batch ko sa Starstruck 1, sina Jennylyn Mercado, Yasmien Kurdi at Katrina Halili, puro may mga anak na, di ba? So gusto ko na ring magkaroon ng baby para pag lumaki, parang magkaibigan lang kami.”
So when is the wedding? “Wala pang exact or definite date, but hopefully soon.”
