“Sana” uses the title (but not the story) of an old Viva movie in 1983 that starred Lorna Tolentino, Hilda Koronel and the late Dindo Fernando and Jay Ilagan. The theme song sung then by Kuh Ledesma will now be sung by Angeline Quinto.
The stars of “Sana” just finished their story conference and they segued to the press conference held to announce the project’s launch officially. Starring in “Sana” is Bea Alonzo.
“Excited ako with this project pero kinakabahan kasi very challenging ang role ko,” she says. “I will be playing three roles no less, so bago talaga ito for me at tiyak na nakakapagod. Hindi sila magkakapatid but their stories are intertwined. Very mysterious, di ba? I’m really so thankful that ABS gave me this big and great project in my 13th year of working with them. Talagang inaalagaan nila ko’t hindi pinababayaan.”
Susan Roces, one of her co-stars, says the story is “tungkol sa labanan ng dalawang angkan na magkaribal sa negosyo. I head one family at mabait ako rito. Ang kalaban ko, si Ronaldo Valdez, na ama ni Bea. Parehong angkan, maraming secrets to be revealed in the course of the story.”
Bea will have two leading men: Albert Martinez and Paulo Avelino. Also in the cast are Iza Calzado, Dina Bonnevie, Tonton Gutierrez, Anita Linda and Michelle Vito.
Dina is the secretary of Ronaldo Valdez and Iza is her daughter. Tonton is the right hand man of Ronaldo who gets involved with Dina. Michelle plays Bea’s younger sister while Anita Linda is Bea’s yaya.
“Nakaka-pressure kasi halos silang lahat, ngayon ko pa lang makakasama,” says Bea. “Ang nakasama ko pa lang, si Tito Ronaldo na lover ko sa ‘The Mistress’ at dad ko naman ngayon, saka si Tita Anita Linda na lola ko naman sa ‘The Mistress’. But I feel so honored to be working with all of them kasi it’s not naman everyday that you’re given a chance to work with these very talented actors.”
Paulo Avelino is so lucky as he is still in “Honesto” that’s currently being shown and now, he’s already cast in a new show. What if the tapings for the two shows would overlap? It’s ABS exec Biboy Arboleda who answers for him: “The taping for ‘Sana’ will start next month pa naman and the airing starts in March. E, kung mag-overlap, it’s not the first time naman sa ABS na ang isang artista ay naglagari sa dalawang shows. Ang tawag ko diyan, 2014, go for gold!”
Dina Bonnevie is thankful to be part of the show. “Kasi yung last show namin, ‘Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin’, biglang natapos agad and anywhere I go, people would ask me, ang bilis naman, bakit natapos agad, e we’re watching it? So at least ngayon, may bago na akong show. I’m a fan of Bea and her movies with John Lloyd Cruz sa natutuwa ako to get the chance na makatrabaho siya. Sina Albert naman at Tonton, lagi ko nang nakakasama, e.”
The one who feels awed to be part of the show is Michelle, who was the first victim of Paulo Avelino as the ghost in “Pagpag” and is the youngest member of the cast. “When I was told I’d be a part of this show, I felt awed kasi puro mga batikan ang makakasama ko. This is will be a challenge for me to give my best para hindi ako mapahiya sa kanila.”
“Sana Bukas Na ang Kahapon” will be directed by Jerome Pobocan and Trina Dayrit.
