Yasmien Kurdi Admits Having Depression After Giving Birth

AFTER DOING an extended guest role as the mom of Barbie Forteza, Krystal Reyes and Joyce Ching in "Anna Karenina", Yasmien Kurdi is thrilled to be co-starring with Starstruck 1 batchmates Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras in the new soap "Rhodora X", which is about sibling rivalry. She and Jennylyn play sisters who get so competitive with each other that one of them develop a psychological problem called Dissociative Identity Disorder. You will be enlightened as to what this is all about when you watch "Rhodora X".

"Ten years ago when we won ni Jen sa kauna-unahang Starstruck," says Yasmien. "Sila ni Mark ang winners at first runnerup ako ni Jen. Ang dami ng nangyari since then and I'm glad to be working with her again."

Like Jen, Yasmien is now a mom. Jen has a son while she has a daughter called Ayesha Zara. Another batchmate who's also a mom now is Katrina Halili, who also has a daughter. Recently, Yasmien's child turned one year old and she gave a big party for her at Royal Palm Residences in Taguig. There's much to celebrate and she's so happy that she and her mom, who's against her marriage, is now in good terms with her non-showbiz husband, Rey Soldevilla.

She also admitted that she experienced post-partum depression after giving birth but she's now perfectly okay. "My daughter inspires me now to work harder and achieve more," she says. “I was breastfeeding her even when I resumed my acting career in 'Anna Karenina' noong six months old na siya. I'm also glad that very supportive ang husband ko and my mom and his mom are helping us in taking care of Ayesha."

But she had to lose more of the weight she gained during her pregnancy. “I was 184 lbs. then but I am now down to 122 lbs. Noon, talagang umiiyak ako kapag naririnig kong sinasabi nilang ang taba-taba ko na, kaya with the help of right diet and exercise, mas okay na ako ngayon."
