Sunshine Dizon On The Many Cases Of Marital Separation In Showbiz Today

AT THE LAUNCH of GMA-7’s new afternoon drama “Villa Quintana”, that starts airing tomorrow to replace “Mga Basang Sisiw”, all the cast members were wearing white, except for Sunshine Dizon who came in all black. We ask her why she chose to be different from the rest. “It’s simple, kasi nakakapayat ang black,” she says. “Pumayat na ako ng konti but I need to lose more weight. So I wore black para mas mukha akong payat.”

She’s so lucky because she just finished doing “Mundo Mo’y Akin”, now she has a follow up show right away. “That’s true. Kaya nga nagpapasalamat ako sa GMA-7 kasi alam kong inaalagaan nila akong mabuti. Tuloy-tuloy ang trabaho ko.”

After playing mom to Louise de los Reyes and Lauren Young (in a case of babies switched at birth) she now plays mom to Elmo Magalona and Janine Gutierrez in “Villa Quintana” (in another case of babies being switched.)

Raymart Santiago plays her husband in “Villa Quintana”. Does she noticed if his problems with estranged wife Claudine Barretto weigh down on Raymart while they’re taping?

“No. Okay naman siya. And definitely, I’m not the type who’ll make usisa about his personal life.”

What can she say about so many showbiz couples breaking up lately?

“Siempre I’m sad. Alangan namang I’ll be happy about it. Basta tayo, we should not judge, kasi we don’t know naman the true story of what’s happening to them. For all we know, baka nga it’s for the best na hiwalay na sila. Let’s just pray for them, especially yung may mga anak kasi siempre, the kids will be the first to be affected.”

She herself is happily married to pilot Timothy Tan for three years now. Their eldest, Doreen is two years old and the youngest, Antonio, just turned one. “Well, I’m really praying it stays that way, for good. Wala naman akong masasabi sa husband ko. He’s very supportive sa career ko. Siguro it helps that he’s not from showbiz and we’re also good friends. I always involve him when I’m making decisions kaya laging open ang communication namin.”
