Cinema One Originals Filmfest Presents Their Ten Entries In The Original Currents Category

RONALD ARGUELLES, head of Cinema One, invited us to the presscon of their Original Currents, their film festival’s category where ten entries are given a budget of P1 million each, to be shown at Trinoma, Glorietta and Robinson’s Galleria from November 11 to 19. We’re truly glad that they have more theatres this year and it includes Trinoma which is very convenient for us QC dwellers.

The festival official opens on November 10, this Sunday, with the special screening of the restored version of Ganito Kami Noon, Paano Kayo Ngayon (best picture winner of the 1976 Metro Manila filfmest), directed by the late National Artist Eddie Romero, and starring Christopher De Leon, Gloria Diaz and then child star Dranreb Belleza. 


The ten Cinema One Currents entries are: Angustia, directed by Kristian Cordero starring Alex Medina, Mitchelle Smith and Maria Isabel Lopez.

Saturday Night Chills, directed by Ian Loreños (of “Alagwa”) and starring Rayver Cruz, Mateo Guidicelli, Joseph Marco, David Chua and Miko Raval.

Bendor, directed by Ralston Jover starring Vivian Velez, Sue Prado, Evelyn Vargas, Anna Luna, Lester Llansang, Chanel Latorre and Nico Antonio.

Shift, directed by Siege Ledesma and starring Yeng Constantino in her first acting role, Felix Roco, Alex Vincent Medina and Matt Valena.

A Philippino Story, directed by Benjie Garcia and starring Mark Gil as an aging gay, Nor Domingo, Kimmy Maclang, Rolando Inocencio and Jun Jun Quintana of “Quick Change”.

Islands, directed by Whammy Alcazaren starring Benjamin Alves, Luis Alandy, Meryll Soriano, Irma Adlawan, Peque Gallaga, Mercedes Cabral, Marita Zobel and Anita Linda.

Bukas Na Lang Sapagkat Gabi Na, directed by Jet Leyco starring Veronika Santiago, Lemuel Silvestre, Hector Macazo, Flor Salanga, Peewee O’Hara, Dan de Guzman and Raul Morit

Iskalawags, directed by Keith Deligero starring Jeric Raval and featuring the native children of Camotes Island where the movie is shot on location.

Ang Pagbabalat Ng Ahas, by Timmy Harn starring Jaime Fabregas, Gio Alvarez, Liza Lorena, Rose Galvez, Kay and Marvin Brondial.

Riddles of my Homecoming, by Arnel Mardoquio and starring Fe Hyde, Perry Dizon, Jillian Barbarona, Jeff Sabayle and Madz Garcia.

The red-carpet awards night for the Cinema One filmfest will be held on Saturday, November 16 at the Dolphy Theater, ABS-CBN compound.
