New Cable Channel RTL-CBS Entertainment On Skycable Offers The Best Shows From The U.K. & The U.S.

VIVA COMMUNICATIONS held a presscon at Luxent Hotel to launch their appointment as Philippine representative of RTL-CBS Entertainment network for provincial distribution and airtime sales. They invited some stars to grace the occasion, like Jake Cuenca (who plugged his current soap, “Maria Mercedes”, and forthcoming movie, “Status: It’s Complicated”), Karylle (who plugged her play, “Cinderella”), Rayver Cruz and Shamcey Supsup. Christopher Sy, executive VP of Viva Comm says: “Viva is privileged to work with RTL, the leading European network and owner of Fremantle Media, and CBS Studios, the top supplier of programming to international TV, in bringing world class pay TV entertainment to our country. The combination of these two international powerhouses has resulted in a network that truly offers a great vidwing experience for the whole family. RTL-CBS Entertainment HD is now available locally as part of Skycable Silver, Gold, Dual Def499, Dual Def999 and TitaniumHD40 packages.”

RTL-CBS Asia Chief Executive Officer Jonas Engwall was present in the launch. “We are delighted to partner with Viva Comm, a leader in the Philippine entertainment industry,” he says. “With our exclusive world class programs and Viva’s strong distribution network, we’re sure our new channels will generate excellent opportunities both from regional platform operators and the advertising industry.”

They started broadcasting in Asia last month and the Philippines is their fourth market after Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. Among the shows they offer are “The X Factor USA”, “America’s Got Talent”, “Entertainment Tonight” and toprated US series as “Beauty and the Beast”, “Elementary” and the new show based on Stephen King and produced by Steven Spielberg no less, “Under the Dome”. Our personal fave is “Beauty and the Beast”, an action-fantasy series starring Jay Ryan (who looks like Dingdong Dantes), as a soldier who acquires superhuman powers due to an experiment that goes wrong, and Kristin Kreuk (who somewhat resembles Angel Locsin) as a New York detective who becomes his unwitting partner in solving crimes. They have great chemistry together and we can’t wait to see future episodes. To subscribe at Skycable, just called Arlene Torres at 632-6369244.
